Great battle, non the less. There are any number of reasons that could be brought up for his loss (not that 2nd is bad...). But I gotta say if gas wasn't an issue, why did they modify the tanks afterward? String of bad luck, not entirely bike and not entirely rider. But luck is part of racing.

The guy I feel bad for is the one who lost his family to a drunk driver.

I feel bad for the guy who makes $ 300 dollars a week and the transmission goes out of his truck and he has to walk to work.

I have a tough time feeling bad for anyone making over 1,000,000 $ a year at their job.

What? I don't get your comment there. I am just trying to get the point across that putting an Asterisk next to a guys championship is worthless and stupid. each racer has to deal with his competition on the track.....what happens to those racers during the race itself is beyond anyone's control.

You make excuses that RD had bike issues....and some people don't see it as black and white as that. RV had his issues as well if you were to take the time and remember them.

Example : if Dungey didn't get his chain derailed...would he of won that night? Or even finished the race? I'm sure he would of been up there......but nobody knows that. And running out of fuel......from what i saw on here , was a guy that is in the industry state that on hot days , they let the riders know there are certain things you need to be careful of.....and one of those things were to try and preserve fuel. The other Suzukis made it to the flag.......RD's didn't' unfortunately.

What about last year? RV was making up 3 points on RD for like 4 races in a row before he had his bad wreck and broke his leg. Should RD get an Asterik next to that championship? Hell no he shouldn't.....he deserved it.

That's what happens in this sport. Sometimes things work out good for a rider , and sometimes they can go terribly wrong.

First, let me preface this by saying that RV won and deserves no asterisk whatsoever. This is purely an argument of the logic concerning fuel consumption.

This industry guy doesn't sound like he knows wtf he's talking about. Instead of preserving fuel on a hot day when they must expect this issue to arise, why not use a bigger fuel tank?

jeffro, I'm with you on much of what you post, but I disagree on the need for riders to preserve fuel at a race.

Team manager: Hey so and so, remember to slow down at some point during this race. You might run out of fuel.

Racer: But what if I'm in a battle for the lead?

Manager: Hmmmm I don't know what to say to that but at any rate you might not have enough fuel, so I guess you'll have to let the other guy win.

I have mixed feelings. I feel good that Dungey has a 5 mill contract. I feel bad that he has it with a company that produces lesser motorcycles and that his chances of winning (especially if he rides a 350) will decrease. But hey that's just my opinion. I wish him well and hope he still is able to get holeshots and does not break both of his arms.

Guess he better not ride a Honda then, cause David Bailey became a paraplegic on one of those and did you see that massive crash that Reed had on his Honda?. Also Yamaha is definitely out of the question - look what happened to Jimmy Button and Doug Henry.

Also your grammar is wrong - the correct statement would be "...a company that produces fewer motorcycles..."

Those are some really good points man. I agree , they should have used a slightly larger fuel tank , but I think they were taking a gamble. I also think that if they if they thought there was a chance he "might" run out of fuel , they probably would have used a bigger tank. Obviously he was on the gas a little harder than the other Suzuki riders. But it is also hard to say " It was a mechanical issue". It is a shitty thing to have happen to any rider. I felt bad for Dungey when it happened. I also felt bad for RV when he got taken out in the LCQ in SX and the broken leg the year before.

BUT.....with that being said , mechanical , wrecks , bruised and battered bodies , ect.....they all happen in this sport , as it isn't forgiving at all. What I don't get is how people can say that the Suzuki had all these problems and it's their fault he didn't win either championship. that is a hard pill to swallow right there. Plenty of guys had issues this summer , and those same fans never bring those issues to light. They only bring the ones up that affect "Their" favorite rider.

RD is currently the best rider in the world. A close second in RV...

The dude gave up two DNF's in SX and the Nats and still kicked ass.

And that's a fact, Jack!

I don't think so fader. I believe Canard is signed for at least one more year , possibly 2. There sure seems to be a lot of guys wanting to switch over to the Suzuki from the rumors on here though. Reed is a strong rumor ( which I don't get why just yet) And possibly Stewart if he can get out from under the Yamaha contract.....which I don't think will happen. So I am thinking maybe they saw Reed as a free agent since Honda will be focusing on Trey ( and possibly Brayton? ). Brayton may fill Josh Grants spot. Also , with Alessi and possibly Short leaving KTM , it leaves more money for Dungey and possibly a second rider.....just not sure who. Hopefully we'll here some more press releases in the next few weeks.

Main riders for each team......

KTM.....Dungey
Kawi....RV
Suzuki....Reed
Honda.....Canard ( next year Barcia as well maybe on the 450?)
Yamaha.....Stewart ( for one more year if Yamaha has their way )

BTW....I see Pourcel over herethe year after next ( 2013 ) for the SX and MX......which I think he will stay in Europe all this next year. Then with guys like Barcia , Roczen , Wilson , Rattray and other fast lites guys moving up within the next 2 years......there will be some old dogs heading towards retirement.

Post a reply to: I feel bad for Dungey.......
