What the hell happened?
The dude started off the season on the right foot and now he isn't at the race or doesn't bring his A game.
Anyone know if he's injured? Did his chick ruin his life by calling the cops or what?

From what I hear the charges against him were dropped, I don't know anything beyond that. The Weege/Matthes theory sounds the most likely to me.. Dietrich had been motoing down and testing for months while everyone else was concerned with SX, so he had a jump start on the field the first few rounds. When everyone got their suspension and conditioning lined out suddenly things got harder and it might have broken his confidence. And without confidence you can easily go from a top 10 threat to fighting for 20th like he is now.

I considered the whole jump start theory but it doesn't hold up.
Ricky has came in late into our series for fun when he could on a WORCS break and still even managed to get a top 5 I believe.

No offense to that year but a lot of guys who did well then aren't doing well now. If you actually go back and look at who regularly finished top 5, the only names who continue to run up front are Reed and Alessi. Byrne, Short, Wey, Tedesco, Grant, even Cody Cooper regularly beat Dietrich that year in the rounds he raced and look where they are now. Weston Pieck also had good riders inside the top 10. The pace got upped, new fast guys emerged and pushed all those riders back.

He said in an interview in either Dirt Rider or Dirt Bike that he did so well last year because so many guys were out injured - and this year with so many guys back - he just isn't doing as well.

He got arrested on a domestic violence charge in July. No idea for sure since I'm as far away from the situation as any but I heard the charges have been dropped.
