I didn't listen to the webcast yesterday, but apparently DB said something like Carmichael would have been going faster than Stewart did yesterday. I think it was something like "would be running 2:37s" rather than the 2:41s that Stewart was running.

If you're a Stewart fan, you should say, "Thank God." If James rides all year at a pace that's just fast enough to win, he'll go 24-0. If he goes out there every moto trying to obliterate the field and trying to win every moto by 1 minute plus, he'll win 8 or 10 motos then crash out of the rest of the series.

Stewart's fans should be more excited over him winning a moto by 6 seconds than they would be about him winning by 1:30.

speed isn't stewarts problem, never was even with RC racing. his problem was/is getting beat...finishing 2nd...not being in the lead at a time when he thinks he should be.

the mind does weird things to some people when things aren't going your way, mental mistakes on a scooter and that's it.

hell his mind messed with him even when he wasn't on the track yet...stomach issues etc.

when has stewart ever gone down while leading comfortably? and don't say he wasn;t going rc speed when he was leading by a long way either....hehehe

james is a quick learner though and is older now and if he uses his head and has some good coaching around him he should be almost unstoppable

No one knows what RC would've done yesterday, he had a bad crash last time he rode there, and yes James did run a 2:37 in practice...

Actually, Stewart did gap most of the field by over a minute. In the second moto 3rd place finished 53 seconds behind Stewart. Stewart is only going to get faster as the series moves on. He was just on cruise control yesterday.

After seeing Stewart yesterday I will say with confidence the missing equation between Stewart and Carmichael was Aldon Baker. Stewart was dry as a bone on the podium yesterday after both motos. Alessi and Milsaps looked as though they had just been pressure washed.

DB didn't say that RC would be faster then JS yesterday. He said if RC and JS was both there and preasuring one another that both JS and RC would be going faster. Basically saying JS was riding comfortably with noone there to force him to ride closer to the edge. That is the way I took it. Looking back to last year how JS and RC was gapping the field by 20 sec. in the first 3 laps, I'd say he is correct.
