Or both. That said, if Honda were smart they would tell Barcia to start in between the Ryans, not next to Chad as this one from LeBig shows...

Wow! What a squirrel! Get away from me dude!

If Reed loses the title by 8 points some of you will be singing a different tune. I was wondering what the hell Honda was thinking the entire time I was watching slam bam. And the bullshit move he tried on Dungey reminded me of something JS7 would do. It's a good thing he went down and not Dungey.

Bingo.

When someone like Ray Blank runs the company and they look at this (and he will)...there may be some VERY uncomfortable people at Bldg 500 in Torrance if it goes down bad...

Running "interference" is what has been done historically...including "Let Broc Bye"...or the early-mid 80's when extra "works-bikes" seemed to show up for new/additional riders towards the end of the season.
It would be really lame if they told a rider to slow down and let another rider pass him. Riders may be on the same team, but MX is an individual sport. If Dean Wilson wins the title this year, he doesn't share the title or the bonus with Tyla, Blake, and Broc because they are on the same team. Teams like Pro Circuit and Honda help each of their riders to do the best they can. The rest is up to the rider.

But I do agree that Honda probably didn't expect Barcia to be up front and beat Reed.

The "let broc bye" days are long gone. If Reed could have won Unadilla he obviously would have. Reed had nothing for the top 3. It will take a miracle for Reed to get back into the title chase. Honda, and the rest of the world knows this. Why is everyone surprised? It would have been Canard taking the points if he did not get hurt.

Not really, you are insane if you don't think some behind the scenes manipulating happens in the Sport.

The MFG's play this game for bragging rights and Mainly Championships, not podiums on one race.

Think about it, the only person Barcia affected was Chad Reed.

Doesn't seem like a smart move unless they think Reed threw in the towel already.

There were situations last year with Pourcel and his teammates where you didn't see anything happen. It may have happened in the past ("let broc bye"), but I can't remember a time recently when it's happened.

It's one thing to take the wide line so a rider on your team can pass you easily, but it's another to slow down for a few laps and let another rider catch up and pass you. I imagine if Reed caught Barcia and was trying to get by at Unadilla Barcia would've let him by and not fought for the position like he did with Dungey.

Chad Reed controls his destiny when it comes to racing not some other rider out there. If Justin Barcia is faster than reed then too bad.

Funny, people give each-other "shit" about discussions like this; but, I think it's pretty damn interesting.

People have different concepts of the "Hows" & "Whys"...that's all.

1. Reed is not going to win the title - he's done.

2. It's down to Villapoto or Dungey.

3. Barcia has balls - I like how he doesn't back down or get intimidated by the top 3 guys. He just needs to learn how to handle the pressure when one of those top 3 is he behind him. I wonder if he can hold it together long enough to win one?

4. Wicked photo of Barcia off the line here. I love it.

Because it sells more Honda CRF 450's when a kid who has never raced one in the states jumps in the shark tank and shows them his rear fender.

I'd be willing to bet Reed sold more Hondas this year for Honda then Carmichael ever did and he hasn't won a title on one yet...................................and Honda is in business to sell bikes right?
i'd take this bet.

reed is cooked, his head went away after that crash during crunch time of the series.

you guys don't think there's a chance they saw that barcia's #s on test tracks were as good if not a little better than chad's (during the 450 testing)? in which case why wouldn't they want him out there.

did anyone notice Barcia over-revving the machine over jumps at Unadilla like he does on his 250?

the same aggressive, moving around a lot on the bigger bike still seems to be there, though.

Barcia qualified 3rd and Chad 5th . Chad was the one who lined up next to Barcia .

He probably thought Justin was going to fall to the other side. Damn rookie, can't deal with the power of the 450 :-)
