G'day,

The young bloke went for a practice the other day and the bike got stuck in 4th. Doesn't matter what I try, it won't shift. He's found a couple of false neutrals in his last race, so I can't help but think this could be related, but sounds like the shift fork is bent/broken.

Anyone experienced this before?

When you pull it down be sure to check the pins the shift forks ride on they have been known to bend.

As it turns out, the selector shaft lost a finger, which prevented the shifting. $100 in parts, easy to c/o. The bad news was the oil had brass through it. Turns out all the gears in the tranny had worn the internal teeth round, which explains the false neutrals. $1700 parts and labour, including a re-ring, head check etc, thanks for coming. 140hrs on the bike and this is the second time the tranny has had to have all gears replaced. First time was a detonation of one of the gears which destroyed everything.

Fuckin 09 Suzukis.

Ouch.. I have heard of the RMZ250's having tranny problems. I ride an RMZ450, and havent had any trouble with mine. Seems like the 450's dont have tranny problems? I wonder why it is that suzuki had so much trouble with one tranny to the other? I would assume that they are basically the same tranny. But maybe im wrong.
