So I take a friend and his two sons along with my son to Washougal, their first National Motocross. I'm bringing them all up to speed on the story lines; the Ryans, Reed, that charger #57 and the other podium hogs in green. I tell them to watch local boys Tommy #55 and our Southern Oregon flyer Rookstool. I fill them in on the challenges and triumphs of the young Trey Canard and try not to make it sound like I've embellished, but that's hard to do when he's been through so much. It's hard to imagine just how thankful he says he is for all he's been "given", he certainly bares witness.
The oldest of the boys Chase, attends Portland State, he's an ariel idiot on twin tips and logs laps on PIR's asphalt, but another of his passions is working a big lens. I don't know how guys like Gibby and Chase do it but when the rest of us in the know saw Trey thrown to the ground, Chase hangs in there and captures it - while I felt it, along with most others on Horsepower Hill.
Having been a longtime friend of the Villopotos I’ve continued to pull for RV, yet I love Dungey's professionalism, Reed's commitment and Trey's perseverance, fortitude ...and all that speed -of everyone of them. I honestly don't know who to root for!

I love this guy’s call to action, I’m just glad he kept those yellow shorts on and stuck to waving the stars and stripes for our fallen fighter.

I can't say I was real impressed with the finish line ( checkers) flagger either ... forcing Baggett to go another lap. Imagine how Mitch would feel if Baggett somehow drilled himself on that extra lap.
After it was over, I also had a little discussion with a "news photographer" from The Columbian, who was shooting long sequences of Trey getting loaded onto the backboard. I suggested to him that the first 40 shots or so ought to be enough, and to show a little class.
