While I'd like to see all the guys race year-round, things change. Call it evolution.
You know what that means? More opportunity for more winners. Not the same old, same old on the podium every week. It also means that there's more room for up-and-comers in an environment that they're already familiar with. I hate to say it, but how much more interesting was the outdoor season after James got hurt last year? The fields were wide open, with more than a handful of guys who had a shot at a moto win.
While I may not like it, I can live with it. And I'm looking forward to the outdoors, just like always.
150? 151? i can''t remember.
Count me in!
Now, if DMG does what it plans and hopes, making their MX brand a premier brand, and secures more media and attention, you may see the end of SX only contracts.
If Stewart is signed with L&M for next year, could Kawasaki terminate Stewart's current contract and not have to pay him for the outdoors?
If it's just about the $$$ and his salary is not guaranteed in the event of injury, he should lay off riding as much as possible or get some damn good insurance that would pay if he gets hurt and cannot perform his job and in turn, collect a paycheck.
HOLD ON....HOLD ON...
WOAH...
If I remember right, we were told it's not silly season yet
Pit Row
Right, Bobby?
But common sense would dictate same rules would apply, as well as I am sure that when LN's SX contract expires, DMG would have the rights to it and LN would have to negotiate eith DMG at that time, as owners of AMA Pro Racing.
I am also sure that the DMG ownership includes FIM Charter Membership, as DMG events will require AMA licensing
James is going SX only for a number of reasons.
1. He's better indoors than outdoors.
2. He doesn't have to work as hard, on or off the track.
3. It might give him a chance of breaking some records (wins, not titles).
4. He's less likely to get injured.
I'm not criticizing the guy, it's his choice and he's earned that choice - but let's not pretend that he'd be financially naive to race both series. Some people trade their legacy in a given sport for money and an easier life. Take football ("soccer" in the US) as an example, Beckham could have been a living legend at Manchester United, but he chose to make more money and have an easier life at Real Madrid/LA Galaxy.
Stewart is doing the same thing. It's up to him - his choice - but let's not make it out to be an indication of his superior intellect when it's clearly an indication of something else.
Townley this summer. Villo, possibly Canard, Dungey, and many others soon to come. It's still gonna be good, even if a bunch go SX only or jump ship completely.
james also brought spectacular endos, loop outs and highsides that cannot be matched. i am gonna miss him in the outdoors for sure. remember that backjack onto rc at unadilla, or that huge wipeout at hi point, or that swapdown at budds creek or that....lmao.
good for him...he'll make more money for doing less. of course it sucks for the fan base...but the fuck the fans, afterall what do they do for the sport? I mean it's not like they contribute in any way shape or form...do they?
more pussification of the sport. if they had a grand national champ maybe that would be different
bring on the outdoors and bring on some good racin.
Actually I take that back, I forgot about the other 99% of the fans out there that never actually travel to one, but rather watch them while sitting on their over sized couch every Sunday on Speed.
F the outdoors, good riddance.
