It depends on how much his employer pays him.

Correct. I talked to Zach Osborne a bit yesterday. As an MX2 guy, he said he was pumped about the chance to win $5,000 as the top American...until he heard about the $100,000 bonus for an American who won the MX1 class.

So the pay is equal to a National? Kinda ends the argument about getting paid. Hey DV, whats your take on National riders taking part in the GP? Would you have wanted to do it?

I'm sure it's gone up since but I found a page from 2009, don't know how accurate it is. It was $16,535 per moto with 1st getting $1,525.00 each moto and on down. Both classes. That's just purse payout.

That's a slap in the face personally. At least make it 25-50K.

The payout at the GP's can't be no worse than what MXSports pays at the Nationals.

I hope it will get better someday for the riders.

it's even worse .... you have to pay 10 000 euro for a full season or 1000 euro each Gp to youthstream .....

None of the top guys are racing for purse money in the Nationals, just like nobody is racing for the non-existent purse money in the GPs. Riders race for bonuses and salaries. In fact, they should push all the purse money down below 8th and make it all equal down to 30th or so, the top 5 guys are making their money other ways. It's the 8th through 30th that need gas money to the next race.

Sounds like you are an Obamanomics guy. Dizzy

The fact that a purse is offered is a zillion times better than the GP's.

Sure... it may not happen, but any one can get the top prize. Basically, I think your idea is a no-go idea.

Seriously... ask any of the top riders what they do with the prize money.... I'm sure it's spent well (trainers, mechanics bonus money, charities, etc.)... and would be missed. I mean, come on..it's not exactly chump change. And dang it...they EARNED it.

Purse money at a national for the top several guys is nothing. If I remember right, first place in a moto is like $1500 or so. Guys who can win national motos are getting 30 times that in bonus money. It's the guys farther down who really need it - the top guys are going to race hard regardless of purses because that's how they get those bonuses (and of course they'd race for blood if they were on minibikes in the backyard because that's who they are).
