Saw Richie Owens riding the Service Honda, he looked good. Talked to him a short while, his confidence level seems low. But he was going pretty fast. I think he'll be among the top five.
Amaradio on the Yamaha, YZ250...was killed by the Star racing, and Yamaha of Troy, 250Fs but he was looked good.
Broc Armbruster, has a YZ250, and show brilliant speed, but can he hang for 20 minutes.
Old Pro Chris Young, manages a "W" in the 40+ class ahead of Willie Musgrave. I talked to Chris about running the invitational...I feel he is shopping for an RM to come out...He hadn't heard of the event til Saturday when we spoke.
I have not heard back from our own Ronny Jackson....I don't know if the donations where plenty enough to get him out here.
I met with Jody Weisel (Track designer) on Saturday, here's what he had to say about the track.
I was asked (really told) to move my trailer up to Beverly hills (above to work yard) for the nationals at GH, so I we build the 40 AMA required wash stations (Stupid). AMA wants us to install water service for 40 pressure washers, for the Pros with out wash units
Is there 40 Pros with out adequate wash for their bikes ?
Also Toyota, offers washers, and lunch, for Privateers !
AMA will have to provide 40 gas powered units, there is not enough electric in their desired location, for electric. units. (AMA money going to waste)
The Saddleback section will be dug deeper, to allow better spectator viewing. With the new up hill going half way up Yamaha hill, and coming back down to the triple step up allows riders to be in a higher gear, making it easier to clear.
The Sand section is awesome (IMO) it will be like a small section of Southwick. The area will have grandstands around it. We ran it in our GP Sunday...some people struggled but I liked it. As I raced to nearly last place (Damn-it)
The step-up before the finish will have an added jump for the Pro race...the Amateurs will most likely double onto the finish line jump, whereas the Pros will clear the whole section.
I complained last year to Jody about the turn on top of Mt St. Helen's, it was to short, and riders were coming across and hitting the iron post in the ground. This year...They have built a double on top of the hill, and will run it deeper before turning. This worked real well...it work for our GP, I am sure it was a lot smaller than it will be for the national.
The Pro pits will be a lot deeper than last year, and will run further out into the parking area. There are a lot more teams with bigger rigs, so if you plan on visiting the pits, ad a little extra time.

There is no reason that at a professional event, spectators, sponsors, dignitaries and anyone else (especially the ladies) should have to slog through a man made mud bog in the pit/paddock area.
It's very unprofessional.
"Dignitary". That would be me, no doubt. I hate slogging thru mud in the pits.

The area will wash off into a sand wash, and nodody will have to walk through it, but still it is not a good idea. But remember this is an AMA idea !

if they want to install wash bays, let them. let them invest in whatever they can to make this sport better.
This is the area which is usually where the race crew, and organizers park. The wash area will take up about 75-100 feet of that area. The water will drain to the pavement, then into the wash.
There will be no more water drainage compared to any other year, just more centrally located.
For Saturday, and Sunday, you do not enter through the regular gate "A". You will enter through gate "B"

Jody** talked them out of the celeb race...The 2-stroke race is Saturday, but you get to sleep through a Quad race first. (snore)

Glen Helen wanted to pay homage to the bikes that dominated the motocross world for four decades and, at the same time, allow a host of up-and-coming young riders and wily veterans a chance to race on the complete AMA National track in front of the spectators.
Saturday’s action kicks off with the ITP Tires/Yamaha Quad Pro Invitational, a part of the Southwest’s premier ATV racing series. Defending series champion Dustin Nelson of Team Yamaha and Team Polaris’ Doug Eichner will lead a field of top pros out of the gate in a 20-minute, $1500 purse moto.
The day’s second event is s the L.A. Sleeve/Pro X Two-Stroke Pro Race. The two-stroke will race a 20-minute moto.
Saturday's action-packed schedule will conclude with AMA practice and qualifying beginning at 1:00 p.m. as the world's top motocross riders make their season debut.
Actually just got off the phone, there are changes being made. We are going to lay Gravel down in my space. I have moved my rig, and the wash area will be in there.
The good news. I now will have a gravel front yard for my second home...can I get a yippy ya-hoo ?
Started out burning my breakfast bacon in the morning...killed it on the start, then crashed twice, played catch up to many times in one day.
That was an awesome battle we had going. I passed you last month, then you passed me when I stalled in the turn dropping into the sandwash, then you crashed over at the REM side, I got you back.

Where are you at in Burbank ?
I am doing a T.V. show at the end of the month in Burbank. Been driving up there for the last couple of months.
Definitely a fun race, I'll be doing them whenever they don't conflict with something more important (LLQ / Amateur days, etc).
On topic, I talked to Armbruster Sunday and he said he didn't even have a 250 2stroke to ride yet, hadn't ridden one at all. Conflicting storiessss hmmmm.
Armbruster...He, and his father (Mike) stopped at my trailer on the way out (Sunday afternoon) and said he picked up an 04 YZ250...Hmmm ?
Why would he tell you one thing, and me another ?
What does he stand to gain ?
They were all set to rent a bike from someone, maybe they found one at the track.
Jared Minor, also got a YZ250, he's in.
