Hello all! So my son recently moved up from a 65 Cobra to a gas gas 85. And he has smaller hands and is asking me if there’s any way that we can get a softer pull on the clutch lever. Does anybody know of a way to adjust the clutch or hydraulic fluid or lever to make it softer to pull in? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
The clutch is set up with a Belville washer. You can adjust the preload on it. Pull the clutch cover off. You'll see six 8mm bolts. Under those bolt holes you'll see inscribed lines. 1 line for position 1; 2 lines for position and the same for position 3. This puts preload on the clutch springs so if you put it on position 1 it lightens the pull. I've done this on my daughters 85 and it's now a 105 with no issues.
