My wife got me a special ticket and pit pass for the Nashville SX.  I haven't been to a supercross in several years.  When I go to Nationals, I always show up EARLY Friday morning and spend the day roaming the pits.  The riders and mechanics are there, but no people, so I've had several one-on-one conversations with riders and mechanics and got great pictures.  Is this possible for supercross?  Should we even bother driving up Friday morning, or just wait until Saturday to leave?  Any advice is appreciated!

Nothing to see Friday and you won't be able to get in to press day etc with a normal ticket.  I suggest arriving for free practice and then go to pits if they are open leading into qulaifying.  Stay for qualifying and then leave for a good dinner somewhere near the stadium between that and the night show.  You will have a couple hours and it's nice to get away and refresh at hotel/restaurant/bar or whatever you like.  Bring snacks too unless you want to have hot dogs, nachos etc all day.

For Friday, If any teams are doing dealer signings or other appearances, those can be fun depending on locations etc.  Otherwise lots to do in Nashville.

It's a great concept, but parking was $40 at MetLife, plus you'd have to deal with all the traffic trying to come back in. I'd argue for some beers and hoagies in the parking lot to save the money and headaches.

It does really suck that there's so much down time between the end of the pits being open and the night show, but it is what it is.

Remember Saturday is a super early start.

Free practice, (if it’s not raining) starts at 7am.

i’m guessing gates open about 9

I don't know about NJ, but I was not suggesting getting back in your car, rather walking to nearby restaurants/bars etc all very near the stadium and then walking back before opening ceremonies.  The couple hours between the second qualifying session and the night show allow plenty of time and it costs nothing.
