Has any one had any experience with risk racing canopy. They’re a little pricey but I wonder if it’s worth the price. I hate to spend the money and it gets destroyed after the one year warranty is expired.
You would be paying to advertise their brand!
Depends on the brand of the Canopy, but you are paying more for the logo than the EZ up, ask them what brand EZ up they use.
A good customer of mine got a couple of them and he has had good luck with them. He used them this year at races every weekend. He has (2) 10x20's . He supports some racers for nationals and local races and has a group of guys that go with him . The frame on the Risk canopies I have seen , look like the higher quality versions that are coming out of China. I work with a company in China that makes the frames and handles printing the tops/walls/ etc for me. And they offer a lifetime warranty on the frames. Not RISK , the factory that I work with.
But the frames and plastic latches etc. all look like they are the same. And it would not surprise me if they came from the same factory as the canopies I offer. I sold one of the canopy's with that style frame ,a 10x20 in 2015 or so. And the customer used it almost every weekend year round. Racing dirtbikes in the spring, summer and fall, snowmobiles in the winter . He replaced the top recently because of sponsor changes. But the frame lives on. The canopies I sell are fully custom so the price is higher than the Risk. For what You are getting, the Risk canopy is a pretty fair price. Shipping them is expensive, it looks like they ship them free. The last 10x20 I got cost me $250 in shipping. The frames on the ones I sell look identical, so assuming they are identical. They are stronger and way easier to setup than the budget EZ up brand canopies. Its not even close. To compare cost to a full custom canopy with the same style frame, I sell them for $1200-$1600 depending on design time, and other variables.
If You take care of them like an expensive item. Don't let a ton of water build up , or have them setup in heavy winds. Keep the frames clean and put them away dry. I think that You should have many many years of use from one of them. Keep in mind that a 10x20 is going to be heavier and much harder for 1 person to setup than a 10x10. With 2 people its pretty easy to do. But with one person, the extra set of legs makes it harder to set up without help. The aluminium frames hold up much better than steel. And as long as You wipe down and mud that gets on them , they should slide smoothly for years.
