Hi guys. Anyone know the difference's in the suspension between a 2006 YZ and say a 2017. Does the new stuff work better?

Same forks with very minor differences depending on which model bike it comes from. Newer versions have a slightly longer ICS for more preload, different spring seat material(plastic not Aluminum), some year 450 have no bleed hole in the mid/rebound piston and main spring lengths can be 454, 470 or 497mm.

Ok, reason I ask is I had gotten the itch to replace my old 06 yz125 with a nice fresh 17 or 18 yz125. If there were noticeable improvements made to the suspension it would make it easier to justify.

The 2 stroke line has the least amount of changes, the only difference is a plastic spring seat and a slight shim setting change.

I believe around 09 they changed the mid valve to a leaf type setup
