Have any of you experienced Oil pump failure, and seized top ends, on Ktm and Husqvarna? Because my top end is all chewed up, from lack of oil.And I have meticulously maintained this bike my fresh filters and oil every eight hours. I just turned over 93 hours. The cylinder head is toast, and the camshafts are junk.....

I’ve seen it at a shop before. Metal flakes plugged up one of the oil holes and starved the top end of oil.

I have seen this before on the exact same model. Turned out the plastic idler gear that runs in between the clutch and the oil pump was faulty(warped) causing it to un mesh every now and then. I guess under normal riding conditions, the un meshing and re meshing can occur and not cause too much damage but In this case, the guy was on the road at a constant high rpm and the gear couldn't re mesh therefor completely fingering the motor!

Thanks for your input, it seems strange they use plastic gears. For such a critical part.

I saw these guys on Instagram a few months ago developing a metal gear. They said they had 50 hours on it.

Husky/KTM have updated the part and know its a problem.New gear is still plastic, but stronger.
Part number on your gear will be: 792.38.006.000
Updated number is: 792.38.006.100

Thank you so much guys, because I really love this bike, just really disappointed in the reliability, I have had fuel pump issues too. Just want to get it fixed so I can ride again!

I took my top end/head out on my 350 due to a blocked oil passage. Seems like some type of assembly material blocked it and starved the top end of oil.

I also have a 2017 FX350 that I bought used after previous owner had cam and head replaced. After my first ride, I noticed oil leaking out breather tube. I took it to a reputable local shop and the diagnosis: Faulty oil pump gears not meshing properly causing lack of lubrication. Same as the other guy claimed to have fixed. He supplied the repair receipt to me with the bike.
The fix: Total engine rebuild.
The cost: Don't ask! All I can say is, I should have bought new because I will now have spent more on a used bike. Sad day.
