Lighter shock spring shorter. Is this normal?

I just bought a lighter shock spring for my girlfriend's dirt bike I'm going from a 5.4 to a 4.6 spring. The new lighter spring is about 7 mm shorter. Is this normal?

If you can achieve the proper sag with the correct rate it shouldnt be an issue.

The dia of coil should be smaller on the lighter spring
start w 10mm preload
