I currently run this head on my 2015 YZ250. It's great. If your looking for more bottom end, go with the MX (or SX if you really want alot of bottom) not the XC. The XC really is a more trail friendly power delivery, it offers less compression then stock. The MX gives the bike plently of bottom, and a smoother "hit" when it comes on the pipe. If you have any questions, call them and talk to Matt the owner. He's great at answering questions about the product.

I agree with the response above.

I have all three domes. For MX, you’d probably be happier with the MX dome. This gives the bike good bottom end, plus strong mid and top. It makes the power a little more linear, as well. Kind of like it fills in some of the dip in the power curve. For years, I tried to achieve the same thing by using the Suzuki needle… it helped, but the head with recommended Yamaha needle does a much better job. Very strong, sounds great, and is more rideable than the stock head.

The SX dome gives it A LOT of bottom end. Very responsive as soon as you crack the throttle. If you’ve ever messed with a shorty silencer, it’s a similar result, on a much larger scale. Makes the bike a handful if traction is ever an issue.

The XC dome is great for offroad applications. It finds traction better than the other two, and doesn’t stall as easily. If you are short shifting, it pulls a tall gear very well. Once you really get it on the pipe, it just isn’t quite as strong. Extremely linear power delivery.

As someone who’s been a YZ250 fanatic since 2006, I was skeptical about the reviews on these heads… but after buying one and trying it myself, I wish I’d had one of these things years ago. And the guy who manufactures them has some of the best customer service skills I’ve ever experienced.

I went to college with Matt and Chris, the founders. Those two guys are awesome. They’re smart and actually ride YZs.

Do you change anything else when you change the domes? Or is it plug and play?

I have a 2006 YZ250 with the SX dome. I love it, but I kinda want to see what the MX is all about. A slightly more linear power curve sounds nice compared to the absolute wild mid range hit this thing gives.

Plug and Play. But buy new copper washers for the head bolts, and inner rings for the head. Might as well change those if you are changing the head.
