2002 CR250R Shift drum installation

Hello, new to the forum & tried finding another thread on this issue, but was unsuccessful. I just got done splitting the case & installing a new crank, bearings, etc.. My problem is that I believe I somehow Installed the shift drum 180 degrees the other way. I say this because the shift drum pin is on the opposite side of where the manual says it should be. I don’t know if this is possible, but I made sure to double & triple check the placement of the shift forks & drum per pictures in the manual before mating the cases back together. Any insight or information would be greatly appreciated.

Since you've gotten this far, attach the shift star and see if it goes through the gears. You won't hurt anything moving them by hand.

The pin rotates with the drum and star so the odds are you’re just in a different gear than the engine in the photo... As stated above put the star on and cycle it through the gears... (I always like to check to see if neutral works. To do this hold the countershaft and spin the input shaft; you should be able to freely spin the input shaft when neutral is selected.)

Thank you both Matt & Paul for your responses. This is the first time I’ve rebuilt a bottom end and began to panic when my results differed from the pictures. I think the picture is just a general, not specific. I just ran through the gears & was able to find neutral per Paul’s instructions. Everything seems to be working properly. I will certainly post again if there are anymore questions, but everything from here on seems pretty straightforward. Thank you again for the help, I appreciate it greatly
