Whose tried them ? For aluminum sprocket's, Tag seems to hold up best, but they are so ugly. On my last few bike's I usually just used Renthal and D.I.D. ERT2, but this RMZ came with an o-ring and I'm gonna stay that route (well, actually gonna go x-ring). Was thinking of the Pro Taper for both, if they are any good, or how about Vortex ?

Oh and also, I tried the Renthal Twin Ring, I got maybe 5 extra hours on it before hooking. That wasn't worth the extra expense of almost 50 dollars.

I have not tried the Pro Taper stuff but I agree with you on the Renthal twin ring. It is not worth the extra dough. A friend of mine runs the Magic racing stuff on his bike with the chain upgrade. (non o-ring) and has really good luck with it. Their web site is

This is what I will try next time.
Good luck

I use the pro taper sprockets with the DID ERT2 chain. They work well without any issues. Not sure if they last longer than TAG. Seems about the same

I run the same setup on one of my bikes...Pro Taper sprockets with DID ERT2. I have Tag sprockets with the same DID chain on my other bike, and the Tag seems to hold up a little longer (stock 250F and mod 144, respectively). Both are durable though.

My dad was running the pro tapers (he got them free) on the back of his 08 crf 450 and hated them. They wore out way way faster than the Vortex cat 5 he had on there before.

I've been using them on an '08 CRF450 and now '09 KTM250SXF, chain and sprockets both. Haven't had any issues myself and the wear isn't noticeably different than anything else I've used.

Vortex I had was wasted fairly quick though in my opinion.

Kind of odd.
