I got the DNA set for $500 from Motosport. So far they are good. Just get a spoke wrench and make sure you keep the spokes tight. But that's normal with any new wheel set .

You didn't even ride with yours yet...

This topic is an oxymoron. You can't get good rims for cheap.

You need to find out what the good rims are, then use the internet to get them for the best price possible. Ebay helps.

I can understand trying to get a deal.

I can't understand the idea of putting anything cheap on a dirt bike. Especially not rims or wheels!

Do you guys really think DNA or Tusk wheels are death traps?

Maybe the longevity won't stand up to an excel set, but they are decent wheels for a weekend warrior.

Just like buying a helmet bud.

How much is your health worth?

My buddy has a pair of tusk and he's had them rode 50 hours on them now as long as you check spokes I don't think its a problem.
What do you guys think?

I mean, it's not like a helmet, you don't wear wheels on your head? It's not a piece of protective equipment. So I'm confused on your analogy.

I'm not trying to jinx myself but have you actually heard of DNA or tusk wheels failing and becoming dangerous? Or are you just trying to say buy it right or buy it twice?

Both!

I've read/heard spokes blowing through, punctures, soft rims, cracks etc from a lot of brands... But not really at all from A60/Dirt Star/SM Pro Platinum and Hahn/Talon etc...

Gotta remember wheels are your first point of contact, and really, at 300-500 bucks difference, why not just save for a few more weeks for piece of mind.

Good decision! If you would of bought some DNA or tusk chinese stuff for 500 then you would of ended buying the Fasterusa Takasago after you tacoed up the Chinese wheels and wasted 500. Talk to Vince at Fasterusa good guy!

Those are some pretty rims you picked last you along time!
