I had one of those and it gave me a lot of problems (but maybe it was just mine). use premium gas. doesn't have to be special gas or anything like that.

Terrible year for the green 250F. Watched a bunch of them clunk to a stop.

Good luck.

I think that was the year kawy/suzuki was the same 250f?, if so i ve heard of the overheating issues! Make sure you have fresh coolant and always check to make sure its always topped off! Once hot 4 stoke headers turn bluish(very hot)! very normal, and the hot start button is for when you are to start the bike while its warm/hot! Shoots air into the carb! I ve also heard that was a bad year for that bike, hope you have better luck! Regular pump gas is fine, 93 octane and above!

If you really want to keep that bike, get an aftermarket water pump impeller and cover for it because, like said above, this bike gets hot. Also, don't let it idle for very long. That's why the head pipe gets red hot, which happens to most four-strokes. Premium pump gas is fine as long as the engine doesn't have higher compression than stock. Good luck.
