2002 rm250 issue

Rm250 will start and idle then make a clank sound after few minutes of warming up and stall . Will restart but will continue doing same thing. Compression is at 186. Thanks for the.help

Around 6 months fully top and.bottem.end rebuild with about 12 hrs on it. Drained oil lots of little metal particles looks almost like someone put a cup of shiny sand in it about 3.5 hrs on this oil. Starts and kicks fine but knock one time and stall out but will restart and idle till it knocks and cuts off havent pulled the head. Bike does seem to sound a little raspy not crisp.

I suspect that either something has come loose, broke or is wearing. I would drain the oil and pull the clutch side case off and start looking. I would also pull the stator cover and see if you can get any movement at the crank so as to check the main bearings.

No play on stator side will open clutch side this evenin thank ya

As far as the clunk then die, only your ear is going to define that noise,..could be numerous items, including a tranny issue. I would inspect everything starting at the head down if you don't see anything evident after you pull the case cover. If you haven't had any problems for 12 hrs, and now it suddenly locks up enough to shut down with an audible "clunk", I would pull it and tear it down for a complete inspection before something really grenades.
