5d or 50d?

If those are your two choices, the 50d. It's new. The 5D is due for an update and is less optimal for action work.

Mark 3 for sure if you can afford one.

The 5D will be replaced soon. The "official" announcement should be around the 18th of this month.

The 50D is new but I haven't read anywhere where the AF on it is way improved over the 40D. I do know for a fact that my 5D is faster and more accurate than the 40D.
So why risk it??

Wait for the 5D replacement.. Can you say 3D or the 7D.. Yeah thats right 2 new ones on their way.
Wait and see what they have to offer.

Or just splurge and get the Mark 3.. You will be happy with it I am sure.
