Oh, and post up a pic of the project. Here's my 81 250 with a Fox rear shock on it.

That would be my bike of choice for GPII. Sweet bike Joe.

Not sure what to say about the 81 YZ250. It handles well, but the midrange only motor feels pretty damn dismal. I have another engine I'm putting together but need some tranny gears for it.

Didn't Yamaha have a tech bulletin with porting specs for that bike? It seems like I saw them for it back when I was racing a 1981 YZ125.

I had a new 1980 YZ250G . Not a lot down low, but strong from the mid to top. It munched the gear box after only 4 months from new. They mellowed the 250 and 465 out just a little too much in '81, IMO.

Works Performance just started making mono-shocks for old YZ's 1977-81,I sure way better then any old revalved or aftermarket shocks from the day and cheaper when you figure rebuild and springs!

It sounds like he has a handle on doing the work, just needs tech info.

APMMM9 - call Race Tech, they did a rebuild on my shock so they have parts and know how. Also check their website for the shock they built for my 465.
