Plasma looks better. Less pixely. But, LCD is cheaper to make....that soon thats all there will be. I believe LCD is a little more efficient as well...less heat

Plasma has the best pic and no pixelation like LCD. Note that Pioneer is leaving the Plasma business so it will leave the market to Panasonic and Samsung.
One thing to consider when buying a big screen tv is the cost of the extended warranties which r much cheaper at the warehouse stores like Sams - I wouldn't buy a TV without one.
My sister bought a TV at Sam's with an extended warranty (wasn't a plasma). It broke after 3 yrs and the repairman couldn't fix it so they gave her a check for the original purchase amount!

What brand is it and the size of it? Just wondering b/c I just bought a Sony 52' LCD and
love it. They told me at Best Buy that it should last about 10 years or so. I hope it does.

I've got a 61" Panasonic LCD, and my dad has a couple 42" Plasmas (think they are Sony). I honestly can't tell much difference in the picture quality, but if I had to pick I'd go with my LCD over his Plasma. The 61" Panasonic only cost me around $2,100. When I bought it, there were some that cost twice as much and if their pic was any better it was negligible. You know how sometimes you look at shit you bought and think, "Damn, that was a waste of money"...my LCD is just the opposite. Even though it's a few years old now, every time we watch a movie on it - or especially anything in HD - we always say, "Damn, that was the best money we've ever spent!" Even if twice the money was burning a hole in my pocket, I couldn't justify getting anything other than what I got.
Only problem I ever had with it in over 3 years was that the lamp just went out (since my wife insists on leaving the tv on all day long when she leaves the house), but it only cost under $150 for the bulb and took me less than 5 minutes to replace.

Plasma... but make sure you did the HDMI cable, seems to make a bigger diff on the Plas vs the LCD, or so it seems on the two that we bought.

Are plasmas even being made still? I thought they were being phased out?

I have a treo of Visios-- two 42" (both 1080 one is the 120htz) and a 50" 1080. No issues with any of the TV's and the all came with a HDMI cable in the box. If you were going any larger that 50" I would look into DLP. My uncle just bought a 70+ inch DLP and the thing is crazy. It makes my 50" look like a toy.

What some people don't realize about these TV's is that it's all about the input. If you have a HD signal or BluRay player that is hooked up with RCA's it's gonna look like shit. Spend the extra bucks for a BluRay player and HD content as well as HDMI's for each.

I have a Mitsubushi WD65734, it is a 65 inch DLP.

If you want to go with a large set, 65 or 73 inch in size, it is hard to beat a DLP. The one downside is the line of site is about 30 degrees off center.

I would rate the 3 technolgies like this.

Plasma = 99
LCD = 97
DLP = 96

But in 1080P, from Blueray, PS3 or Xbox360 they all look very good.

My Panasonic 42" plasma radiates a crazy amount of heat. Anything bigger than 50" and I would go LCD.
