What are everyones favorite meals to make that you can just whip up?
I do this one about once every two weeks.
It's good to get rid of veggies and meat before they spoil and it reminds me of my moms cooking when I was little; perfect for the homesick college student.

Pretty simple, I take whatever veggies I have in my fridge about to spoil or just need to be used, typically onions, green peppers, mushrooms, celery and whatever else sounds good. I just saute those guys in a pan and then throw in some meat. I am a big Turkey meat guy so it is usually what I have laying around.

Then I whip up a few cups of rice and add the rice to the meat and veggies, I throw a can of mushroom soup in there with some milk to make it less thick and bam. Have dinner and a lunch right there usually. Takes about 10-15 mins.

Another one I like that my mom use to make and have found myself making it here and there is "Shit on a shingle".
I take two cans of tuna
2 cups of milk
2tbsp butter
little bit of flower and lots of peper

Melt the butter add the tuna cook for a few minutes Add flour and milk and cook till it its a little bit thick.
Then just pour it over some toast.

Like 8-10 minutes with that one.

Anyone else have quick whip ups?

Grill a chicken breast or two while boiling some pasta and broccoli. Dice up the chicken, drain the pasta broccoli, chuck it all back in the pan and add a few spoonfuls of pesto. Baddabing. Good to eat hot or cold.

Or, do what you do with the old vegetables, but add bacon and a tomato sauce of some kind, pour over pasta a grate some cheese over the top.

Failing that, pick up the phone, dial a pizza, sit back and wait.

Grill pork chops, add cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 can of H20 (water to the layperson), simmer until hot and tender. Eat with applesauce. Cream of mushroom soup works good with lots of meats, or just bread/biscuits. I still eat Ramen noodles a lot too, but I screw up the economy of the deal by using actual shrimp, ect.

Edit, Foodnetwork.com is cool. They have a search engine that you can just enter in the ingredients you have in your kitchen and find something to make. Works great if the grocery store is too far.

Slather up a boneless, skinless chicken breast with Lee & Perrins chicken marinade and Mrs. Dash lemon pepper. Grill it and dice it.
Take a pack of ready made garden salad. Add dressing, croutons and diced up chicken. 1 piece of sour dough garlic bread.

Steven, another way to use those old veggies and shrooms is a frittata.

Set your oven to broil, sauté up all the stuff you would normally use for your recipe in a cast iron skillet.

When all that stuff is almost cooked, stir in a few eggs.

When the eggs are solid on the bottom, grate some parmesan cheese on top and stick it in the broiler 'til the top is solid.

Mmmmm, mmmm, good.

Homemade mac and cheese is dead simple to do and much better than the process powdered cheese crap in KD.

Boil elbow noodles in water until cooked and when ready drain noodles into a colander and leave that in the sink while you get the sauce ready.

The sauce is easy, throw about 1/4 cup butter into the pot you just boiled the noodles in while they're draining in the sink and let it melt down. Add in about the same amount of milk or cream and then stir in a tablespoon of flour or two to help start it thickening. Now you just add a bunch of shredded cheddar (or whatever) cheese you have in the fridge.

Once the cheese is melted into the sauce a little throw the pasta back into the pot and give it a swirl. Salt and pepper to taste.

It'll taste so good you'll feel guilty eating it right out of the pot.

If you're one of those crazy guys who puts ketchup on their KD then try adding in a little tomato sauce like you'd use for spaghetti. It gives the sauce that familiar orange color and a bit of tang but without all the extra sugar.

If you wanted to kick the whole thing up a notch, make the sauce a little extra creamy so it doesn't dry out and when it's in the sauce you can put it all into a casserole dish and cover it with some bread crumbs and more shredded cheese. Throw it in the oven and broil it until the top is brown to give a nice crunchy cheesy bread crust on top.

Yep, homemade mac and cheese is good stuff. It's one of those things that's faster and simpler than the box stuff. Kraft must have a great marketing guru on board. I make it different every time but I prefer the Panko/bread crumbs oven way. No matter what you use it always ends up good. Another thing I don't get is frozen hash browns, it's not that hard to run a tater through the cheese grader and throw it in a pan with olive oil. Just as fast, if not faster than the commercial stuff.

This ones for the health conscious...

My favorite breakfast: The refreshing egg, Bacon and lettuce on toast with dijonaise.

Poach an egg whether placed in the eye of swirled water or if you have a poacher, even better.

Whilst that is going get some bacon, wrap it paper towel and put in microwave for 2 - 3mins. The microwave method results in more taste and less fat.

Toast some bread and spread dijonaise on toast, not too much.

Place lettuce or spinach on toast.

Add cracked pepper to compliment it all.

Place bacon and egg on top. No need to use salt, bacon contains salt.

A glass of water with ice is recommended...

You could use mustard as an alternative if that's what you desire.
