Has Miller gotten serious again, and ready to make waves at the Olympics?

The guy is hot or cold, but he has the talent. If his heart is into it, he could be very helpful for the USA team.

The fucking guy still skied to a 4th in that very run at beaver creek just a few weeks ago. The guy is hands down the best american ski racer of all time.

I can't find a vid of that run but if you ever see it you'd never even argue with me.

They are hauling Dean, TV don't do it justice. I'll never forget the first year I went to the Birds of prey down hill, and just hearing those guys go by as I was riding the chair up, it's nuts. That run is rock hard ice and steep as shit and those fuckers are going straight down it in speed suits tucked, I can't believe they don't get really hurt more often.

Yeah, I'd say he's getting ready for the Olympics.

Those guys are nuts, and Bode pushes the edge further then anyone i've ever seen in DH ski racing.

balls and crazy leg strength and balance to pull that off.

See him carve that ski after being so far off in the weeds? Look at that photo, he's still looking down the hill and fighting to get his outside hand down the hill, while almost flat on his back. The guy is as good as it gets. RC like.

But, I'm in SnowBasin in Utah right now. It is where they held the downhill in 2002 for the Olympics.

You have no idea what the start gate is like until you look up at it in person. Seriously, I have no idea how these crazy bastards just pointed their skis down that face.

Averages in the 50's MPH. The courses are two miles long. Take the time it takes to complete and you can see how fast. In speed traps they can hit +70. Like Rat said TV doesn't do it justice and even being on the skis chasing gates it doesn't feel as fast. It is not like being in a car. It's muscle burn and spot the next gate. When you are on course, you are never going fast enough, the race is too short and too long all at the same time.

The course is watered down for three days before the event. They turn it to solid ice. So even being on the same course you can get an idea but add to the fact the World Cup skiers use Fluorocarbons on their skis the friction resistance is awesome. Skis glide almost float on air. Last time I used it it was $50 an ounce. They can go through many ounces in an event. Base treatment alone is a rocket science.
