Randy Newman

good article on him in the new RS

I saw an interview with Randy Newman in Rolling Stone on a plane coming back from Denver last Tuesday. Very funny, very insightful guy. One great thing he said, referring to how much smarter girls are than boys at a young age: If I'd had my daughter before my sons, when my sons started growing up, I'd have thought they were retarded.

BTW, Rolling Stone is the only general-interest magazine in America that I always buy. It's the most insightful writing in print.

I'll second that thought for the daughters. Two boys, one girl, she's the youngest and she has done everything earlier and better than her brothers.

Now if we're talking about ease of raising them, that is another story..... Let's not get into hormones and that stuff................
