Thanks Jamma now I wont do shit for the next hour and twenty min.
I'm a half hour behind you.

Thanks, Jamma.

My punk life started in the late seventies, and I'm still a punk at heart.

I even hang out with some of the washed up old bastards from The Adolescents and TSOL.

I even got to lay down some tracks on 45 Grave's new record a couple months ago.

LONG LIVE PUNK ROCK!!!

I am sure many of you have seen it but in case you haven't American Hardcore is a good documentary on punk music in the states during the early 80's. I liked the movie but I just don't get why they all hated Ronald Reagan so much.

I just watched this! Couldn't sleep the other night and this was on. I remember that time well, I was in college during this time and playing what I thought was punk music in a couple bands.

I agree with you about their politics. The most hard-core guy I knew at the time used to get pissed at Rollins and all those other meatheads that got so political all the time, he would always point out that kids only got to act out like that because the rest of society went to work everyday and kept things working.

Which washed up old bastards?!?!?! TSOL is one of my all time favorites. Hook a brother up with an autographCool

I remember the first time I heard alot of those songs, I also remember the little flyers that would fall out of Epitaph, Nitro and Fat cd's and tapes. I would read every word of those and promptly send my money from shoveling horse shit back to them. I also remember getting a new record and playing that shit over and over while reading the liner notes. Every band had a list of bands in the thank yous that they toured with or whatever and thats how I heard of new bands, the more the bands got thanked the more I would seek out thier records. Man Im old. Excuse me now I have to go blast some Suffer before my ol lady gets home and turns it down to start dinner--that used to be my moms job!

Was cool to hear them discussing the knock on effect that Surf films had in increasing the popularity of punk. One of my favourite songs of that era was 'Unknown Road' by Pennywise because of the film Momentum 2. Fucking loved that track, especially the piano intro. Good times. Smile

Yep, but if you weren't there in '78, you missed a lot.

Jerry Roach was our hero, here in the O.C.

Some shit was always going down at the Cukoo's Nest.

I know, but punk hit it's zenith in 82-83 and fortunately, I was there to see it.

Dude trip out, in highschool art class we were learning how to do screen printing and that is the image (in b/w) that i was in the process of doing when my accident happened and i never got to finish it. Talk about bringing back a long lost memory....that was '85 and i was a sophomore.

edit- i think i got it off the back of the album 'Golden Shower of Hits"

No, I was in Dallas. Dallas had a great punk scene in the early 80's that was centered around a motley crew of skaters. Bands like the Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, TSOL, the Misfits, Die Kreutzen, Husker Du, The Dead Kennedys, Youth Brigade, and many others, made Dallas a regular stop.

We skated all day, and slam danced all night. It was a great time.

You forgot to mention Fear.
