I have had a CB radio in my truck for a while, but I just got a PA speaker from my friend and I want to hook it up. I wired everything and plugged the jack into the back of the radio, but it is super quiet, you can't even hear it unless your ear in right next to the speaker. I know it will work with my radio since some of my friends have the same one and have made it work, so what the heck is going on? I also tested the speaker and it works as well, so I'm assuming it isn't getting enough power or something. Any ideas?

Thanks for the links Ps, I guess I need an amp for it. It just seems weird that it worked for my friend, but not for me.Pinch

Make sure you didn't wire it up out of phase.
Sorry, kind of a PA noob here. What exactly does that mean? I wired the jack directly to the two wires coming from the speaker, and then plugged it into the back of the CB. I know a bit about phases of wavelengths, but what can I do to mess that up through wiring?

Usually phase doesn't matter if it's not stereo and it's a single speaker. If the speaker has a crossover it might matter. Switch the wires on the speaker to test it anyway.

I tested it with the wires both ways just in case I was backward, and it worked the same. I also tried a different speaker as well, and it did the same. I think an amp might be in order.Sad
