I highly recommend the movie Machine Gun Preacher. I know, I know, terrible title, but it is probably the most powerful movie I've seen since Basketball Diaries. Don't be fooled by the title, it is a movie worth watching and even better, it's a true story. Not sure if your kids should watch it...it shows real life stuff about things you may not be prepared to explain the reasons why, but as adults, we should all watch it and then you can see how one man can make a huge difference. Excellent flick.

I thought it would be a "Smokin Aces" type of movie and my son likes the shoot 'em up cheesey movies...I was wrong, it was moving and my son loved it.

I'm not sure I would recommend it to your children, because a fantasy shoot'em up movie needs no kind of explanations but this movie might.

If you have an IQ higher than 40, you will appreciate this movie.

Thanks! Just checked out part of the trailer, and it looks pretty darn good.

If you haven't seen it, check out the movie "Five Fingers". Pretty cool how they uncover the plot little by little.

Thanks. I just put it in the queue on Netflix.

Yes agreed a really good film, but I disagree and think you should let your kid watch it then educate them on the real world outside of McDonald's and the rest of the sugar coated crap. Might make them a little more grateful and respectful of what they already have.

I read the book and it was way better, one of the best books Ive read. I was expecting the movie to be a big let-down but I was suprised at how good it was. They left out a bunch of information, as movie makers always do but the movie was still awesome.

The best line in the movie was toward the end "If your child or sibling was abducted and I told you I could bring them home, would you care by what means I used?"

Kick ass movie.

I agree. I let my son watch it. I was in Somalia in 1992 with the US Marine Corps with Operation Restore Hope and I have seen much of this kind of thing first hand. Heartbreaking, and we never should have left Somalia.

I've never really censored what my son has watched, but some people are much more conservative than I am when it comes to programming for their children.

Watching that movie makes me want to go over there and help and/or take up arms with Sam Childers when my son goes off to college or the military.

Damn. Thanks for pointing me at that. My son also watched it. He usually won't watch anything unless it's a comedy or Top Gear. He was glued to the screen.

Amazing story. Amazes me that some people can do so much for humanity. I'm feeling kinda guilty and selfish now....

I was feeling sold on this movie until I got to your last line.

Oh well.

Your loss.

The reason for that line was to let people know that this isn't an 80's type action movie that stars Stevan Segal or Jean Claude. Some people absolutely LOVE those types of movies and think movies like Mystic River or Shawshank Redemption are time wasters.

This movie isn't for those people.
