As someone that was "on the ground" and dealt with it on a day to day basis, can you give me some background on the AW Ban, and how it changed things for the gun industry?
What they did was take all weapons that were already in peoples possession,in warehouses,on the shelves in gun shops and they were classified as Pre-Ban weapons (flash hider, bayonet lug,folding/col stocks). No more of the weapons were allowed to be imported or manufactured, same with high capacity mags/clips. What it did was raise the value of the *Pre-ban weapons & magazines. There was only one weapon I believe that they made people surrender and that was the street sweeper shotgun and they were compensated, but FFL dealers werent, they had to transfer to a Class3 dealer to sell them in a class3 state due to the fact the weapon was classified as a DESTRUCTION DEVICE.
As for assault type weapons that were manufactured after the ban ,they were called "Post Ban" and they could not have a collapsible stock, bayonet lug or flash hider. Colt made many and called them target rifles with 10 round mags.
Just like this.
Even Ruger still made mini 14's & Mini 14 ranch rifles and they were in compliance with the ban.
The folding-stock ones made after the ban still had a stock that looked like it folded but it didnt close....it was just for looks.
SKS ones were also the same.
We at the time took the pre ban stuff like Olympic Arms CAR 15's that were $400 at the time and jacked up the price $750.
We took $89 SKS's and sold them for $199. The Norinco Mak90's went from $200 to $300.
But the thing is distributors stocked up healthy on them because they knew the ban was coming. What they had in their possession at the time they could sell legally.
Our profits doubled on that type of stuff and we were able to expand more and buy more and make $$$$.
The Colt ar15 type post ban rifles were cheaper then the original Colt pre-ban ones and they flew off the shelves.
They even started making a lot of 7.62x39 ones and people used them for deer hunting in Washington state with lead tip bullets.Ownership grew greatly up that way.
You can read all the details here on the ban it self back in 1994.

It would assume they are going to try the same thing again.
However, the reason the ban was lifted was because it was cosmetic things in all reality.
The ban never made sense or did any good.It helped the gun industry in a sense if you dealt in para military stuff/ AW's,
better profits especially dealing with used guns.
I remember seeing a 30rnd clip/mag for a 9mm glock sell at gun show for over $200 at one time.
That I bet the guy bought from RSR for like $30 a year before or so. It was crazy.
I remember the high end machine type pistols like the HK SP89's that were imported from Germany were like $1,500 and after the ban they were like $3,500.I seen some crazy stuff at gun shows as far as prices on more rarer imported stuff.
The Shop

How are they buying that under Cali law?
I thought they had a AW ban on anything made/owned after 1989.
Edit: ahh nevermind...I see.
"Active-duty military members residing out of state and assigned to duty in California may bring personally-owned assault weapons into the state. The military member's residence must be in a state that permits private citizens to own and possess assault weapons, and the firearms must be registered with the California Department of Justice prior to the servicemember's arrival in California by submitting the registration form with a copy of the member's Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders."
Reminds of this one.
These FN's look cool though.
These KAC's are nice though, just hard to find ....
They are swamped with military orders...and they rarely seem to pump out civilian stuff these days.
Their factory is located over there by IE Dave's neck of the woods.

Try to find something forsale that is used ,but new in the box from like a private party.
You might be able to get a good deal. And if a ban goes into place ,depending the market,it will go up in price.

That thing would reflect like crazy.
It looks different though...that is first one I can ever remember seeing.
You see stainless rifles from time to time - but not chrome AR's.
This is the semi auto version 82A1.
No worries it's not semi auto, but it think it shoots bigger bullets than a AR.....it was fun researching it and finding parts, it needed a magazine spring and follower, firing pin and spring, safety knob. At least if I get robbed I won't be out of a lot of cash. Sorry if I messed up y'all's thread but I was kind of proud of this gun. It almost got trashed.
What kind of site is that called? I haven't seen one of those before that I can remember...

You can get these in great shape for 300 bucks with a full stock. Going to get some kind of 8mm mauser next. They claim the action on the Arisaka 99 has the second strongest action ever made with the Arisaka 38 being first. I have no idea if this is true, holler if you know where I can get 7.7 jap bullets cheap.
