Ok - contacts are in my immediate future...not sure what to think as I've never worn contacts. Getting fitted for SynergEyes Duette Len's.

I had Lasik done in 1998 and now I'm not a candidate for an enhancement.

Anyone have experience with these or similar?

thanks

I've had several years with multiple types and brands. My eyes seem to be sensitive to drying out with contacts and ended up going with daily disposable lenses. After a few years of spending good money on them, I decided to downgrade to a cheap brand and can't notice the difference. Saving quite a bit and still have fresh lenses everyday. I think everyone is different when it comes to this...just some input.

Almost always the first couple laps or section of trail my contacts want to dry out and fall out but goes away.... just remember to tell yourself to blink alot initially.

These are suppose to keep the dust and related out and moisture in as the perimeter is a seal. It is also suppose to keep them planted. Need to be removed daily. Len's are good for 6 months then toss. After insurance my cost is $156.00 for 2 sets

I think the issue for me is the outside of the contact drying and my eyelid sticking to it so to speak. I'm sure they'll work great for you, only one way to find out.

i've never tried the ones pictured but i've been wearing disposable contacts for about 18 years. i recently switched to glasses and the only time i wear contacts is on my dirtbike or mountain bike.

blink a lot and carry eye drops at all times. i wear Air Optix Aqua and they're great. i actually started using single use to keep the cost down.

I've been wearing a brand by "Frequency" for 16+ years..I believe they are two week disposable, but I just wear them until they start feeling heavy on my eyes (so 2-3 months). My eyes must not be sensative because they never dry out, never need drops and I never really notice I have them in.

I do always carry an extra set just in case something happens..

I have only used Dailies when riding, almost always dry out. I wonder if the solution is to find goggles that vent less.

The SynergEyes Duette Len's provide excellent vision depending on what your eye condition is.

I have a cornea scar in my left eye (22 yrs ago) and along with a bad astigmatism that I've had most of my life in both eyes.

When I first got those lenses they were called Soft perms essentially a gas perm Center which is semi rigid with a soft skirt like normal soft lenses of course there's pros and cons with those lenses.

Pros is excellent vision
cons: they are a lot more sensitive to dust and anything that can get in your eye so what I have to do is where that lens on my left eye and a normal toric soft lens in my right eye.

That lens is also tricky to get out of your eyes as well while the normal soft lens you just basically pinch with your finger.

Regarding goggles is very critical I use a Smith goggle it was called a sand/dust goggle a few years back.

essentially it is a very dense foam to decrease the amount of dust that comes in.

I've also taped over the foam on the top of my goggle lens before I got those type of goggles or use baby oil.

You'd be amazed at the amount of dust gets through the foam and with those lenses it can be very irritable on your eye.

I was wondering why your doctor did not just start you off with normal soft contact lenses he must feel that those lenses will provide the best vision for you hope this helps.

If anyone is really old like me and remembers the early contact lenses before soft lenses they were called gas perms semi-rigid I will never forget going down Carlsbad's downhill and they both popped out of my eyes and into my goggles! Woohoo

I managed to finish the race very carefully and the lenses were still in my goggles after the moto! Haha

And like the others have said concentrate on blinking a lot and also always have contact lens drops with you

Because of the hassle with that contact lens I just wear glasses on a daily basis and just use contacts for when I ride.

The drawback with glasses are my left eye vision is very poor so when I look at a full moon I essentially see three or four Shadows it really sucks also night riding on my street bike but I deal with it.

be careful bro, i did the same for 15+ years... box says change them out every 2 weeks but my wallet says 2 months. i developed an astigmatism in my right eye, my eye doctor says that was probably a big factor in it developing. i'm on glasses and daily contacts now. towards the end of the day wearing contacts my right eye is killing me
