"Bryan Donnals' four-wheeler was produced by the Zhejiang Tao Tao Industry Co. and sold at a car dealership in Illinois for $695. A comparable American-made ATV would have cost hundreds of dollars more."

Anybody know what American Made ATV they are talking about that cost "hundreds" of dollars more than a $695 Chinese ATV? Id think anything made in the USA would have to cost at leat a $1000 more than that.

Actually I wasnt even aware that we made ATVs here in America.

Polaris and Arctic Cat. All four Japanese companies have assembly plants for ATV's in the US also.

Yeah, the majority are made in the US since that is where the market is. Same with Jet skis and snowmobiles. It is very rare to see an ATV in Japan.

Freaking brilliance
"The red, 110cc four-wheeler barely missed a propane tank before crashing into the trailer and catching fire. "
Its their fault he wrecked?

"Donnals said he had no qualms letting a 6-year-old ride the Tao Tao because of his family's long familiarity with ATVs. He said he had adjusted a "throttle-limiter screw" so the import would creep along at less than 5 mph"
"He'd been riding his newly minted, Chinese-made ATV — sold "to be used by children age 6 to 12" — when suddenly it sped up and raced out of control, according to an account by the boy and his family."
Apparently daddy didnt know what he was doing...

"Sue Rabe co-founded Concerned Families for ATV Safety after her 10-year-old son, Kyle, was crushed to death in 2002 in rural Oregon by a 500-pound American-made ATV."

Why did she let her son on this ATV?

I swear people cant take accountability. The guy said he knew it was inferior and he bought it anyway. He rigged it himself to be slower, then gets upset when his rigging doesnt work and his kid wrecks it?

I dont know where Sue Rabe lives, but I know here in TX if you buy an ATV it says no one under 16 is allowed to ride it. So this genious lady puts her 10 yr old son on a 500 pound quad and starts a safety commision because he flipped it.

Where did it say that the dad "rigged" anything?

All these little ATV's have factory adjustment screws by the throttle.
