My sister in law lives in Dubai, she says the thing is stupid fuckng tall. Supposedly, it barely has any tenants. They build shit over there in some "who's dick is bigger" fashion and they have no one to live or work in them, they just do it to do it, which is why they needed a bailout in Dubai

How much time does one have to spend in the elevator in order to get from the bottom to the top?

A significant time-waster is deciding which button to push, which has a direct impact

on arrival time.

The bagel-shop at floor 139 is HIGHLY recommended.

So around 45 seconds if the ride is about 800 meters, its not bad. WIth no other stops at bagel shops and stuff that is.

I heard the guy who designed it didn't know how many floors tall to make it, he just kept adding floors as he went along!

They are building real estate in hopes that when the oil runs out tourism will come. It's a rich mans playground I guess.

They have a nice F1 track though.

I went to Vegas and did the merry go round ride that swings you out over a parking lot. That was kind of trippy because you look down and there's your feet and then a parking lot about 400 feet down. I worried about losing my shoes and just how good are the inspectors on this ride?

Does anyone know who the structural engineering firm was on this project?

Isn't having a bagel shop in an Arab country kind asking for trouble?

That's on the Stratosphere and you're up about a 1000 feet at the ride level. That thing sways like a MFer in the wind. Can't image what 2500 feet would be like in a sand storm.

ha...I knew it was way up there. Like I said, I kept thinking about metal fatigue and failed inspections. I did the superman/bungy ride up there as well.

How much does that thing sway at the top?
Enough to bring an extra pair of depends I would think.

They'd feel pretty bad if a radical christian terorist flew an airliner into the side of that thing and brought it down.

Maybe the islamo-jihadist types will strike at this emblem of depraved western culture in their own backyard.

Wouldn't THAT be ironic?
