what info is on mechanics pit boards?

stupid question but what's the info usually posted on the mechanics pit board? besides 'let broc by' ha

sometimes they show 2 numbers- they post times above one another like + .05/ 2.0 or even when there is just one # on the board, what do the riders usually want to know? seconds faster than their last lap and position or what?

Really depends on the rider. Some want how much time is left, what position, lap time, general encouragement. When there are two times ie. +10/2:30.9, the first is probably gap behind you, second is lap time. Give them a good judge of how they are running compared to practice or previous moto.

I always wanted my position, big, in the middle. Upper-right: how far behind the guy ahead. Lower-right: how far ahead of the guy behind. Oh, and "Trophy girl sez you get a ..... if you win".

I usually got, "UR SLOW", "CAN WE LEAVE NOW?", "You SUCK"..

Lap times, competitors lap times, seconds behind, seconds ahead, tips, smileys, and the rare move over for a teammate. That's about it.

Funny story: I went to LL in 2004 in +30. Of all the guys there, there was this one guy "of color" (is that legal here) in our class. His gate pick was just before mine. Big James Stewart happened to be standing near by when the guy was called to line up and noticed he didn't have a mechanic. He volunteered his services.

About half way through the moto we found each other again and I noticed his pit board as we passed through the pit area. It simply said "GO FASTER!".

BRILLIANT!!!!

Sometimes they do position and how many seconds they're behind, or ahead.

Also reminders to Breath, or Smooth, or Think. Etc. When you race your definitely shut off your mind sometimes and its good to have a little word remind you to be smart. Example: (+30 - Smart) or (-5 - DGAF!) haha jk on the last one

When I first started racing,"take your skirt off", was a good one.


I love the way goose is behind the board.He really gets into it.
