crf250 2 in 1 exhaust

I might be going crazy, but is Akrapovic making a 2-1 exhaust for the new crf? I thought i seen a pic of it in the pit bits from Europe but ive looked through them all and can't find it again!

Saw a video from Japan for their first round of racing(Believe it was an MXA video), and there was a CRF250R with both headers wrapping to the right side of the bike, into an X pipe, and back into 2 midpipes to 2 mufflers. Doesnt sound like what you're referring to, but a bit of something on the same subject!

I might be going crazy, but is Akrapovic making a 2-1 exhaust for the new crf? I thought i seen a pic of it in the pit bits from Europe but ive looked through them all and can't find it again!
I would doubt any aftermarket exhaust company would go to 2-1 exhaust on this bike. The whole reasoning behind the exhaust port positioning and twice pipes is to manage air flow (path of least resistance) and manage curve loss in the exhaust headers. This motor will produce less power with a 2-1 exhaust, not to mention it would be a longer system and change handling character along with it.

2-1 would reduce air flow as the two exhaust ports and air combine into one header or muffler.

What you are seeing in Japan is probably an evolution of a “box type” muffler Honda patented a few years ago now. On paper it produces great power and big reduction in weight, cg etc but they struggled with ride-ability on the track.

My guess at this point, since I’m out of the loop now, is that you won’t see much development or architecture changes in internal combustion engines from ANY mfg past 2020-22 (depending on 4yr development cycle) because EVs are becoming such a big part of the entire world.
