I wonder if it was a lever and they are just saying handlebar.

There was a mountain bike bar through a leg on FB the other day. Excellent case for bar ends.

my bar end fell out of my road bike and wasn't allowed to race until I replaced it for just that reason. Luckily I keep a spare in my gear bag.

I cartwheeled in some braking bumps last year...and right after I came to a stop...the bike flipped up and over me...and came down on my leg....the handlebar spearing the inside of my right thigh. It was brutal. I was not "impaled" but the hematoma covered over 1 SQUARE FOOT. It was nasty. Ran from my knee to my groin across more than 1/2 of the circumference of my leg. I did know it was even possible to have that much purple/blue

I did that once stl from an endo which turned into a flatland after tossing the bike. Hematoma all over. Took me a while to gain confidence after that one.

Any of you guys old enough to remember levers made of folded steel? Finger choppers for sure. No ball on the end...just. Edward scissor hand shit. I think the Carabella was about the last bike I remember I remember seeing them on. We won't even mention solid welded footpegs.
