How heavily should stuff be moderated? Should it be the Wild West? Should a topic have something really solid to say, or risk being tossed?

What makes it worthwhile for you to come here and read?

The process works.

Change nothing.

I've started coming a lot less because I rarely find anything worth reading after filtering through the BS posts.

I come here for info and bench racing above an 8th grade level.

Isn't it funny...that when there was "LESS" moderation, there were more "intelligent" things to read?

Seems that when the "moderation" was left up to the members, stuff was handled. Now, the minions run the show....

I come to read the stupidity. It's entertaining. I don't really post much because it's more fun to read than to get involved in the drivel.

I come to this side of the board and see what would take reading multiple sites in just minutes, which is nice. But it seems like the new people aren't used to the sarcasm that makes Vital "Vital", the repeated threads, self-inflated egos, ect.

I truthfully spend more time in Non-moto, it's the second most visited webpage on my computer after Facebook. Not to mention I feel like I am sitting at the "grown up" table there.

Gibby, I love the way the site is run. You, OC, and TK are quality moderators that don't rule with an iron fist and aren't above throwing a sly comment at an idiotic poster.

I think it works the way it is now. I mean we have a few good stories to talk about, but it's the off season. It'll liven up soon.

I DO believe that, like Facebook, there's such thing as spending too much time on here for some people. They need a job or an employer who tracks their online use...lol

Mr. GuyB, you know I used to come here a lot more in the past. Seems like there used to be a lot more intelligent post's, kinda hard to weed through all the B.S. now. Seems like a lot of the people here now just like to see their name in a topic.

I don't come here for the antagonism and idiotic arguing. I think a good set of guidelines have been laid out in the sticky http://www.vitalmx.com/forums/MotoRelated,20/Vital-MX-Posting-Rules,483… and I think, for the most part, the mods are using that as a solid foundation. Their day-to-day involvement gives them the insight to see when someone is simply being an asshole or wasting everyone's time.

I'm all for status quo.

I get that part. For me it should be about the post, not the poster.

I came here to bench race and listen to those that post here who work in the industry, because I'm a fan too. I like to hear from SH_105 when people get a little full of themselves.

I also came to this site so I could ask technical questions and perhaps learn a thing or two (maybe some grammar as well...). I wouldn't mind seeing some of the dumb shit go straight away, otherwise the latitude here seems to work and the mob tends to keep the inmates from getting away with too much.

It needn't get so personal when people have opinions-they are just that and nothing more.

If that is your thoughts then get rid of the user names and post counts. That will end 75% of the "look at me" threads and reply's.

There is very little motocross information to be had in the forum section of this website.
I don't think it does the sport any good and has proven to be looked down at by the upper level racers/industry folks.

The home page is excellent and the pit bits from each event are my favorite part of the race weekend.

I would like to see much more moderation and deleting of threads/posts in hopes that what little is left is actually useful information for those invoved in this sport.

I haven't been here for awhile but have seen this board go through all the changes to where it is now, even when I was sidelined I checked it everyday. Wild West?, no, a lot of guys take this stuff way too serious....

Your hard work along with the wild west wit and sarcasm has made this board what it is.

Why change now?

I don't think it is the wild west. Improvements can always be made, especially when you get into a dick measuring contest. In all honesty some arguments are great as long as they are still "subject" pertained. If it falls outside of the subject guidelines, clip it....

Exactly.
Take everything on a case by case basis.

As for what makes it worthwhile....
Activity is what makes it worthwhile.
Real time news, real time rumors, real time discussions, real time debates, real time questions, various sorts of media being posted (vids & pics)....the list goes on & on.

I don’t think GuyB should get rid of the User names. I have met a bunch of people through the years on this site, some of which I now ride with and hope to meet more.

I do think there should be more moderation. As mentioned before the threads with useless arguing and bickering should be moderated. I see a lot of interesting threads go off topic cause of this.

What you are not understanding is....

These boards/forums in a way are like heading down to your local sports bar and bs'ing about baseball & other sports with your friends or other folks.
You have ribbing, taunting, arguments etc, and sometimes you get some good rumors and sometimes some other useful information.Other times people say flat-out stupid shit.
It's all here.
And when someone acts up or gets out of line or does something stupid, the bouncer escorts them to the door or tells them to chill out.

I think it should be just like the tailgate of your pickup on a practice day. Pretty much anything goes from silly BSing to the hottest rumors, to how to unseize a chain adjuster bolt.

Just like the tailgate, when your buddy says some stupid shit, or crosses the line you tell him to STFU, yes? The cops only need to show up in extreme cases... imho. Smile

Edit:I didn't see Eddy's post ^^^ pretty much what he said.

Post a reply to: What do you think?
