What is the best hotel to stay at for the last round of SX? Where do most of the riders stay?

Riders stay all up and down the strip but seem to hang out a lot at the Hard Rock.

Many stay at Hard Rock

Better question is, what do you want?

Hard Rock is off the strip, so you're a little isolated from everything else unless you take a taxi or drive to the strip.
Is being on the strip important?

What is it you want out of your Las Vegas experience?
Gambling?
Fine food?
Sights and sounds?
Be "in the mix?"
Shows?
Luxury accommodations?
Wandering around in a drunken stupor (the past time of choice for many, it seems)

Is price an issue?

Wynn is classy but not too pretentious,at the end of the strip too,a retreat from the mayhem Laughing

We stayed at Treasure Island last year. Definitely had a good time there. Its small enough of a hotel/casino to not get too lost, clean, has a few good spots to eat, and is close to the bellagio, harrahs, Caesars, and the mirage. Also its less expensive than a lot of the spots. I think that will be the plan this may as well.

TI is "plain jane" but is clean cheap and centrally located.

BTW, tip #1 for any Vegas virgin.....That hotel is not as close as you think, do not try to walk there. When your signage is the size of a football field (no joke), it makes a mile away appear much closer.

I went to TI a few years back for the finals and then I stayed at the MGM when they still had the US Open. Both were really nice, I just want to be in the mix around other people who like SX instead of regular tourists.

Then there's the trip to the track: Note...map it...12 Miles/20 Minutes...and probably A LOT longer than that on the way back.

If you have ANY plans of drinikng...at the track...anywhere...

Take a Cab or bribe someone into being the DD.

Btw, Dave...we need to put togehter a "hangin' out w/ Doug the Bad-Ass party" of he can make it!

I've stayed at:

Mirage
Treasure Island
MGM
Planet Hollywood

I've never been to Vegas for the SX, but I had a great time at all of the above places.

I like being on the strip, as I like go on walkabout from casino-to-casino when I'm there. Dave makes a great point, and every Vegas noob does it at some time, or another. Things in Vegas are definitely NOT as close as they appear. I thought I could walk from MGM to Caesar's Palace once.

I stayed at the Hard Rock for two nights a week or so ago and then spent two nights at Hooters Casino. Hooters was $27 a

night, Hard Rock $40...these are off season, mid-week internet prices...Anyway, Hard Rock was very cool, especially all the

Rn R memorabilia. Lots of cheap places to eat on the corner near the hotel, 2 minute walk, Strip is about a mile walk...

Hooters is for sale and getting grungy, it was grungier when it was the San Remo. I'd say stay at the Hard Rock, but don't eat

there, she is expensive. Or, do the PriceLine thing and get a TOP strip hotel for probably 30-50$ . Or, and this is a big OR -

do the JLAW, get a suite at THE PALMS and haul in a boatload of ballet dancers. Yeh, that's the thing to do.Cheers. Luck !

* DUDE, make sure you visit the Monte Carlo hotel's brewpub, the food is super ( $) and the beer diversity is superb.

It's at the back of the hotel in their stupid, swanky shopping center - on the strip.

Try to collect as many porn-cards from strange Central and Southern American people with fantabulous sunglasses -

as you can. Don't be arrogant, receive them with pride. They will hand you them as you stroll the strip.

I like the MGM. I know its huge, but it's pretty low key, not a lot of bro's, and is in a great location. It seems everytime I go to the Hard Rock, there's a ton of young kids, all bowed up and looking to throw down.

Hard Rock, but good luck

we stayed at the Polo Towers and it was bad ass, more like staying in a high rise condo.

don't get the casino crowd which is a plus... but if you wanna gamble for a bit then it's a minus. also, the pool is on the roof which is titties

RUP, you know you are old skool when you are claiming San Remo. It was at least 15 years ago for me and my BRO's, we would come from Cali, broke college fools and all cram into one room. It was either the San Remo, or Hotel Continential, both ran cheap ad's in the LA Times. Best story bout this, you ever wait in the taxi line after a club or night out? We would be at Palms or Rio or somewhere nice and the taxi guy would ask you where you're heading, he would blow his wistle for the taxi and yell your said destination to the driver, everyone in line could hear it. Me and my crew would always claim Mandalay Bay or Bellagio, bell man blows his whistle and yells BELLAGIO. We jump in the cab and tell the driver, fuck that, were at San Remo boss, go the other way. You are SPOT ON yo, the Remo was a no go, the Motel 6 next door was better, but damn, the place saved us a bunch of money over the years. San Remo por Vida!!!!

i know i've told this story, but in 09 me and a buddy flew down without getting a hotel or having any plans. it was probably the best time i've had of the 10 years i've been going.

stayed at the Hooters a few years ago, was a dive but they had the topless Hooters Calendar shoot at the pool that weekend.

my chest was purple because i passed out by the pool watching the shoot and slamming two dollar 20oz. El Presidentes... rough next couple weeks that's for sure.

On this, I agree
HRH is "Bro-land"
MGM is massive and seriously, with all the food choices and stuff, you can stay at MGM and never have to leave the property
I like MGM

I usually stay at Paris. I get comp'd nice suites overlooking the Bellagio fountains there

By the way, the New Cosmopolitan is really swanky and cool.
It's also super popular and the new "hot" clubs and hotel
Packed with males and females seeking the "stays in Vegas" experience

Four Seasons @ Mandalay. A hotel in a hotel so to speak. It 's lowvkey and if you want to go gamble just head out through the secret door to the Mandalay. Sometimes you can get lucky and grab a really great rate there, too. It's a sea of tranquility in the craziness that is Vega$...

City Center is nice, thats for sure. You can get a hotel room at Aria, or a Condo/hotel at Vdara, Veer or Mandarin, all at the same place. The day club/pool rivals the HRH Rehab scene, only not as crowded and cleaner pool water. The place is centrally located and is a short taxi ride to HRH if you want that scene.

Last year we stayed at the Hard Rock & completely regretted it. If you want to be surrounded by bros, have people crashing the cymbal / light sconces on the hallway walls at 3am & have your bathroom sink backed up to the counter top the entire stay.....then go for it. Maybe that was just my experience though...could be. We've stayed at The Mirage in years past & enjoyed it.

Well worth mentioning is the ORLEANS - although it is well off the strip and on the other side of the highway - it is a fun

MiniMoto is now at South Point Casino.

I prefer the Hard Rock. The side bar attracts a lot of industry peeps during race weekend. Rehab at the pool is sooo much fun! Awesome DJs and Live shows.

Now if you wanna stay on the strip for a good price and good location, then I suggest the Tropicana. They have completely redesigned it. The pool setup is way better and so are the rooms.

Another thing to consider is MGM or Mandalay Bay. I see that Mayweather has called out Pacquiao to fight May 5th. If it happens then Vegas would be abolutely slamming that weekend with SX, Fight, and Cinco De Mayo! It was pretty crazy last year with SX, Cinco De Mayo and Pacquiao/Mosley at MGM.

If you want to be closer to the stadium, and are not into the whole strip crowd drama, Green Valley Resort is a very nice place with plenty of amenities withing walking distance, and easy freeway and airport access. Just off the 215 south of the airport and strip.

We went on a family week trip after Christmas. Green Valley was beautiful, clean (only a few years old), had numerous pools and restaurants, plus it was adjacent to some shopping district that my wife spent way too much time and money visiting. I guess that was to off-set the too much time I spent in the casino....
