he needs the euro spec shock....
I'm just saying if we make a list of all the riders that have been unhappy with the big bike it would be way to long. When will they decide to change things up a bit.

The whole Chassis sucks. Too much motor for a chassis that can't handle it.

i think the main thing is its different than the jap bikes... most of us grew up on them so when you hop on the KTM something doesnt seem right...

Nothing wrong with the pumpkins - if it was still called a Penton MXA would be slavering all over it and all the internet experts would all say how great it is Tongue

the ignition went out.. it happens even to jap bikes. so if MC said he felt he could win the championship he had to like it somewhat....

We got a great deal from the KTM dealer here to ride them for a year and after the year was up all of us decided that if we didn’t get one for free we would never ride one again. That's not saying much coming from me because I'm slow but if the local pro's don't like them how are they going to get a good name for themselves?

i think they are a better OUTDOOR bike which is why they do so well in europe but SX is a different beast....

Too bulky,Too little shock...And theres no need for the heck of a load of electric start...And since when did 4strokes need 6-gears???Its an alright bike if ur gonna use it for the trails...but for a serious rider, the suspension doesnt meet his neets...Especially being punished through the whoops...

They have some great ideas with the electric start and other things but sometimes I think the way they HAVE to be different hurts them.

KTM builds too many models to focus on the proper R&D for a jap killer.

Japanese Engineering trumps Austrian engineering 8 days a week anyways.

Good on them, the first step is always admitting you have a problem.

I've had two of them, 250SX's, and they were both rockets and very well-made, but didn't have the forgiving chassis that Jap bikes do. I ride my Hondas every week without even changing a clicker, the KTMs would need adjustments all the time.

And sometimes, KTM's engineering courage gets them into trouble. Estart is great, but you should be able to take it off and save the weight. And the linkless deal is a problem because there's simply no way to change the mechanical advantage rate of the rear end like you can with a linkage. I remember one year that KTM wanted to move Langston's shock mount point and the AMA said no, that's changing the frame or swingarm, and that's not allowed. KTM pointed out that they were trying to effect the same change that you can make with different linkage pieces on Jap bikes, but the AMA didn't bite. And changing the shock mounting position is way beyond what the average mechanic can do, so a local guy can forget it.

But I loved my bikes, they were fun to ride, reliable, really fast, and if you got them set up just right they handled at least OK.
