Kevin had a bad crash as he lost traction going towards one of the tripples in his 250 Heat Race this weekend in Phoenix. He came up short and crushed his trachea and larynx and cut off his breathing airway.

A privateer, Kevin scrapped up enough cash to make the drive from Temecula to Phoenix after qualifying for the night show at A1, only to have this happen.. His family could use all the help they can get with medical bills. Please take a moment to check out his Go Fund Me page if you will, and even if you cant help out with money, positive thoughts and prayers are always helpful.

I copied this text below, so you can read a little more about what happend to him.

19 year old, Kevin Weisbruch, is a long time, devoted motocross rider who has been racing Supercross professionally for the past two Supercross seasons. Kevin's passion for racing has driven him to become an excellent rider in the sport. His success racing Supercross has grown over the last two seasons as his determination, humbleness, and positivity has lead to his ongoing performance. Kevin's family and friends without a doubt know him to be one of the strongest, kind, caring, and humble individuals they know.

This past weekend at the Phoenix Supercross, Kevin suffered a devastating injury while racing in his Heat race of the night. Despite losing traction before a triple, Kevin was committed to the jump, landed short on the triple suffering major injury to his throat. The impact crushed his trachea and larynx and cut off his breathing airway. Asterisk at the stadium quickly diagnosed Kevin and rushed him to the hospital. Kevin has been in the ICU at The Banner Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, AZ since that night. He underwent emergency surgery Sunday morning to repair his damaged larynx. Although the surgeons gave good news as the surgery went better than had been anticipated, it currently remains unknown whether Kevin's speech will return to normal.

Kevin is now in recovery and has just begun breathing on his own through a tracheotomy tube that will remain in until the surgery site has begun to heal. Kevin is so unbelievably strong and with all of the support from his friends, fellow riders, all the good people in the motocross community, and his family, he should make a nearly full recovery. This injury was a freak accident and is extremely serious. Now that Kevin has underwent surgery, he is and will continue to get better each and every day. Prayers, well wishes, and amazing positivity are greatly appreciated by Kevin and his family! Thank you everyone for your support, Kevin is very grateful for all those that have cared for him! All proceeds will go to Kevins hospital and associated costs.

Thank you!

Correct, the company is Verasty Clothing and they are donating 100% of the profits to Kevin up until friday this week, which is a great way to get some clothes and help out at the same time

I havnt talked to his family yet after it happend, but i imagine if he couldnt breath that Asterisk had to have done something to assist him before getting to the hospital.

I cant even imagine how an injury like this would play out without having skilled medical staff on site.

Here's an update from Kevins father, Gary.

I wanted to take a minute and update everyone on Kevin's condition.
Currently Kevin is still in the ICU ward, but getting stronger everyday.

The nurses have had him up and around since yesterday and even sitting in a chair.

Despite the severity of the accident, Kevin will make a full recovery thanks to all the emergency/medical personnel involved.
His larynx (voice box) was repaired thru surgery on Sunday and he currently has a Trachea tube in his throat.

Kevin is not able to eat or speak until the tube is removed which may be by this weekend.
We are anticipating that his voice will return to normal or very close to it. Hopefully he will be able to come home by early next week.

It is times like this that you come to realize how the Motocross community comes together and supports those in need. I have seen so many posts offering support, love and prayers for Kevin that it brings tears to my eyes.

I do not have words to express the thanks, gratitude and love for all of you who have reached out to help Kevin since the accident. Our family is truly blessed to have so many that care as much as all of you!! Thank you all!

Seems like it should be a rule that every participant should be required to have medical insurance to participate.

And I hope people spend time thinking about whether or not they will be covered, should something like this happen to them. God forbid!

I saw this happen. He got his helmet off as fast as he could and just let it drop to the ground as he started walking towards the first Emergency workers he could find looking for immediate assistance. Felt really bad for him knowing he couldn't breathe.

I'm assuming this was the cause of the red flag? Prayers for a full recovery, luckily it sounds like he is doing well. I always hate to read about these things, it's the ugly side of our sport for sure.
