So here is one of our local pros Jermey Riddle. He had a shifter problem at the last state race and a buddy was able to snap this pic.

Quite impressive, but looks like a good way to lose a couple fingers to me.

i did loose the end of my finger doing that, seemed like a good idea at the time though.

I think ktm is the only one who has a 10mm bolt going into the end of the shift shaft. It loosens up with normal shifting. Mine comes loose all the time. Gotta check it every ride. I heard some guys safety wire it to prevent this.

I put loctite on mine.... haven't had a problem since.
