I think most people could see that James senior reverted back to his "little league" father mentality by gesturing at his son who is a consummate professional and just had a bad night at work.......but another thought came to me. It seems that if James senior was as interested in watching his son race as he seems to be interested in standing next to him after he wins, he would be in the stands where he can see the race strategies unfold and not on the stadium floor. IMO, the only people that should be on the stadium floor are the athletes and their team members that are actually helping them race, the track officials and the medics. I'm also guessing that if Goose and all the other mechanics didn't have a job to do they would be in the stands too. So my question is: why was James senior on the stadium floor and should he be there?

He was trying to get James out the stadium asap. Threads like this do not make you look smart.

Why?

He's Big James.

Should he be?

Dunno, He's Big James and he's significant in the World of Moto.

Another-thing: When u get a chance to "talk shop" with him...you'll realize...he's a damn smart dude.

I'm jus' sayin'...

Avoiding Erin's show-producer-based questions is a good reason to leave immediately, to me.

As for your question- I`m sure he plays pretty big role in James Stewart Entertainment, LLC that owns San Manuel Yamaha racing team.

kong......If your son was racing SX would you rather be on the stadium floor so you could get him out of the stadium asap after his race or would you be more concerned with watching his race from a better vantage poiont? Also, can you explain the connection between my post and me not looking smart?.....I think I posted a legit question for which you gave an answer that just doesn't make sense to me. Why would you be a dick to me by insinuating that I'm not smart?

Big James and any other parents do whatever they want. Parents all come down on the floor at the end of the races and watch from the industry seating during the race, as does Big James.

He was right to send JS7 back to the pits at the end of the race.

There was 10 page thread ripping James Sr. apart by people who has no idea what he actually said or what the situation was about.

It's already been discussed, Big James just wanted James to get out of there before he had cameras and mics shoved in his face.

hes on the floor because there is an area from the pits to the stands people with his credentials can get on the floor. Once they are to that point, the people checking credentials are just sitting there gettin paid. If you notice, all the wifes, moms, families and parents all come out on the floor if their rider is on the podium.

now, i have never seen big james sit up top, i think he just likes being that much closer to little james on the track if something happens..he isnt getting any special treatment by being down there.

I would have thought if you were going to start a thread with this topic, you'd at least try to get the low-down on what was going on. You've made yourself look like a fool. Changing the topic half-way through the thread doesn't help, still looks really dumb.

In the grand scheme of things wtf does it matter to you or anyone else? Is he taking a spot on the floor away from you? If he wanted to be in the stands he would be in the stands.

I kinda like Big James. I think he's a good dad and I think he lets his emotions get away from him sometimes. Who doesn't?

I have nothing against Big James.....and he might be smart and a good guy and all the other good things that people say about him. Since it's unlikely that ANY of you know the answer for sure, asking you forum lerkers "why" he was there was really a rhetorical question. A lot of you state your opinions as a facts........how do any of you know what Big James said or why he was down there? The main question is, if a rider isn't injured and he didn't make the podium should his parents be on the stadium floor?

This topic has been beaten to death since James turned Pro.
We talked about it on Moto Talk back in the day and are still talking about it to this day. Smile

If James wants him there as part of his crew (TSM/JSE)and the AMA/Feld allows it , then so be it.
I've always seen Big James as part of the team, regardless.
He sorta adds to show here and there,Big James is quite a character. LOL

Him telling James to go back to the pits, because James was pissed-off,was a smart move on their part.
James was able to give a decent level headed interview on Wind Tunnel the evening after to talk about the race.

It's really not a big problem because there are only 20 riders in the main, and most of the parents of those 20 are not in attendance. I'm guessing most people don't typically notice Big James and Mama Canard wandering around after the main. Saturday was an exception.

If my son was James Stewart I would do the same. How many Dads out there disagree? I think we let jealousy cloud our thoughts at times. How cool of a life do they share compared to ours? Let them enjoy it. Together.

Don't assume everyone here is a clueless lurker and a lot of what you might see as "opinions" is indeed "facts," this is why if you read the forum rules it says to pay attention to who is who.

Some folks here do know the facts and try to relay them in the best way possible without blowing their own identity or sources, it's up to you and some experience to figure out what's real and what's bullshit.

Rooster - What do you think I'm doing? I'm getting the low-down on peoples opinions. How do you connect that with being a fool? Why would I change the topic half-way through the thread? And why would you say that? I asked a simple question and a lot of you are making ironic comments about my intelligence; giant leaps of connection there.......I'm not trying to disparage Big James or point fingers. I was just asking a question. Why do some of you seem angry and hostuile? And some of you are downright assholes! OK, I'm getting into another topic......sorry!

Big James was at the Detroit SX in 07 wearing some crazy alligator skinned boots in the industry seating...one of my kinda dick friend's yelled to him "Killer boots Man". He took it as a genuine compliment (which made me happy), and came over with a big smile and proceeded to chat with us for a few minutes. Really really cool guy that just loves moto and bench racing. Made it extra cool for us when Stewie went on to win later that night.
