For any of you that have insurance on your rides, who do you have do it? Good, bad experiences? Prices, coverage?

My insurer dropped me as of 8/28, so I'm looking for new coverage this week, and was just lookin for some insight.

Thanks

Why were you you dropped? and that might determine who your next carrier might be! I have progressive on my bike and receipts for all extra parts i got (aftermarket)You can insure it for as much as you want and the premium will go up! but its peace of mind in case something happens. Call around Geico, Progressive ETC better safe than sorry. Good Luck! Keep us posted. Luckily i have nt had to make a claim.(knock on wood, lol)

We started this for my action sports athlete clients A lot of the SX and FMX guys have signed up. Not really a full health insurance plan, but helps if you wreck while riding. Basically pays you a certain amount of cash per injury and for things like ambulance rides, ICU etc.. Helps pay deductibles, out of pockets etc.

Yea JW381, I forgot to also mention my coverage includes damage like if I wad the bike up in a race or crash and pay the deductible Progressive will pay for the repairs , (so they say) You can also check state farm, allstate some other insurance companies are gettin into the dirt bike game so they can make some money, but make sure you tell them its a dirt bike that does not require a license plate , because they will try to make u get a title, Hope this info helps man!

Progressive treated me good. But I got a mail from the the other day where they ask for my license plate? WTF? So they are pretty stupid. Hopefully they can deliver despite the usual low function employees that tend to make some experience less.

Progressive will not pay if your bike is stolen at a race, or if your bike is damaged at a race or during the race. If you have med pay then you are not eligible for benefits if you are racing. TRUST ME. I sell for progressive and have had to clear this up for several customers, including myself. I had several people at progressive say yeah its covered, but I finally got through to head of claims and no coverage on race day.

I've currently got mine insured with Allstate. I've had both Progressive and Geico in the past. I only switched because I was consolidating all my insurance policies to one carrier and Allstate had the best rates/coverage for all my policies combined. I think the dirt bike rates are fairly cheap. Up until August of last year, they treated them like street bikes, now they have special policies just for dirt bikes which only cover theft or damage due to fire and such.

Hey Hicky214, Why would the agent give me that info then, so am i covered at all? My agent said as long as you use the address you keep the bike 80% you are covered no matter where the bike is! I will call my agent to get more info, because if i m not covered i ll change companies, whats the point of me paying them! Thanks for the updates.

That’s good to know Hicky..........I knew insured’s were excluded for on track physical damage as well as bodily injury while racing. However I was also told by a progressive rep that theft would be covered while at the track.

I would trust head of claims much more than reps…….guys, ask questions and get it in writing when they say something is covered. It’s not that people intentionally lie (maybe they do but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt)………but a lot goes along with insurance and some people just know the product better than others. Like anything I suppose.

Anyway I think progressive has a solid, affordable program. Plus I believe you get up to $3,000 of aftermarket accessories……….so keep your recipes guys! One of the Ladies in our office did one here in NY for a friend of mine and I think the cost was $79 a year for a 2010 Honda CRF 250………full coverage, 250 deductibles.
