Second Moto lap times were interesting. Osborne turned faster lap then Marvin. Forkner almost was ahead of Marvin as well. That just seems crazy to me and really shows how those two were just hammering down. Marvin looked great and never would have guessed Forkner and Osborne would have laps the same as his.

Just goes to show you where the optimal HP/weight ratio is. When the track gets rougher, the lighter bikes are less of a handful than a 60+ hp monster.
I remember racing 125A and 250A in the late '80's, the last moto of the day was always way easier and less tiring on the 125.

I think it has more to do with the track deteriorating than anything, since the first motos show a similar pattern. Not to say they aren't hauling balls, but the average drop off in lap time over the course of the moto is pretty consistently between 4 and 5 seconds for most of the top guys, even throwing out each guy's worst lap. The difference in rider's best laps was around 2 seconds from moto 1 to 2, then account for fitness in the drop off throughout the moto a bit, and I think if you start them all on the same track guys like Marvin would have times around 1.5 seconds faster than the Osborne/Forkner group.

This is just my opinion and thought but with the 450's first lap being the same as the 250's last lap, can make it hard for a fair comparison. Maybe qualifying is a good comparison being that the race lines are taking shape, not deteriorating yet. I remember when BB4 and ET3 used to set faster lap times than the 450's, when they were in the 250 class

Nothing new about this, it's been like this for years.

Manufactured drama by having 2 classes.

Let's wait for the laptimes at Glen Helen with the big hills + Colorado with the altitude.
