Mods move to Non-moto if need be, just thought it was cool to see media following her career.

Why is this news?

Earning woke points by mentioning a female racecar driver seems the logical answer because someone swearing during competition surely isn't news worthy.

The same guys who think it's totally acceptable to cuss out a teenage girl over some contact on the track

Yeah, it's all about the clicks. I'm sure the article isn't even really that interesting, but the title gets people clicking on it.

I read the article earlier in the week on another site. To me, Deegan came off as a competitor trying to do the best she could, but Souza sounded like a damn whiner who was pissed he got beat by a teenage girl.

not sure its quite that simple, moving someone for 8th that late in the race is a bit OTT, both probably over reacted,

she's in the top team in the series that does not have big car counts, and most the guys paying there own bills like Souza is wont like someone wrecking there shit for no reason,

I dunno.

She and her father must know, and have known, the climate that exists in that arena.
To get a bit freaked out when it gets a little bit heavy tells me one of 2 things.
She was/is clueless on the realities of what she's getting into, or, she expects to be the instrument of change, to make it a bit more, ah, nice.

In other words, she's dumb as a rock, or is just another element in the pussification of male dominated sports in general.

Not true.
She carries the pretty young lady card.
If and when the guy she punted, does retaliate in a future round, especially if she gets hurt, he's not labeled a savvy competitor that takes no prisoners,
he's the cowardly monster that ruined that young girls face.

Tell me I'm wrong.

You’re wrong. Only way your scenario is true is if he throws a wrench and hits her in the face.

Don’t agree , she’s moved cars and has been moved this year , I doubt anyone would punch her in the mouth but it’s been a while since there has a been a real good nascar fight anyway ,

She markets herself well , and has the sponsors which gives her the good rides , it will be interesting to see how she progresses , she has a a long way to go for sure and big steps to make to get to a cup ride

cause even tho short track racing sometimes brings that sort of thuggery out in people, i dont think any male driver would ever hit a female,

do you think someone would?

That's my point. She will always have that, I dunno, advantage. She knows no matter what she does out there,
nobody is gonna come busting into her pit and throttle her. It just wouldn't be right.

She said herself, she had to get going, had to move up, and did what she had to do.
How far is she gonna take that mindset?

Hey, even if it doesn't come to fisticuffs, what's gonna be the word when/if the guy she stuffed last week really takes her out? Is he supposed to on,y give to the degree what he got, or really teach the other driver a lesson like he might want to? That's what I'm kinda thinking. He puts her in the wall, who knows what's gonna happen.
And if it's not good, the guy that did it will be the jackass.

Danica got turned plenty as payback (when not doing it to herself ) , not sure if the on track stuff will be that different , some say guys race the girls harder as not as it’s harder to accept being beaten by a girl.

I personally think Ty Gibbs has a bigger future , and he will have the best rides

But that could also be her disadvantage as well.. they know she's not a threat off the track!
I reckon there'd be plenty of people out there happy to see her get wrecked solely due to her being a girl (a few posts above for example)

U guys have a point that can't be totally dismissed.

But hey, the advantage she has by being a woman
imo will be overcome.

I mean, look around. Almost every sport separates the girls from the boys. There's a reason. Even in a sport like tennis, the top 100 male pros could wax
the number one female player.

Unless they water it down, make it a bit more civilized, accommodating if you will, testosterone,
or the lack of, will limit how far up that ladder she will go.

Yes, but Motorsports have the great equalizer of the machine when mixing sexes. It's cool that men and women can compete on a more equal level in racing. It would be cool if the exceptional women of today were remembered in the future for their accomplishments. Shayna Texter is doing incredible stuff on the big ovals in flat track, Ana Carrasco in 300 supersport, and Deegan is in position to do the same in Nascar. Who cares if they are female, they are doing things that have never been done before and should be recognised for it.

Same as it ever was. Women wanna jump into male competition settings and dont like it when the usual male nonsense ends up happening to them. Well whaddya know, that equality stuff is a double edged sword.

Laughing

There should be a new rule
No cursing in the pits.
Call it the Deegan Rule.

Say fuck out loud and you're docked 2 positions at the next round.

Theres been a lot of chicks come and go in the sprint world, but the one who I respect is McKenna Haase.

She worked up to 360s and never asked for special treatment, has paid her dirt tracker dues, never talked big shit and ran her mouth, (even when she was on the receiving end of some BS stunts by disgruntled male racers) and is truly a humble person who is not full of herself. And just cool she 'gets it' about sprint car racing.

"Its just chaos, I mean its open wheel, open cockpit, bad fast, just wicked fast....."

If she ever ran ASCS Gulf South Id pay the stinkin' pit pass cost and go watch this awesome young lady race. Win, lose or draw, she's a class act. THIS is the kinda women we need in racing.

" they are doing things that have never been done before"

Except they're not...

What are they doing that has "never" been done before? Or do you mean never done before by a woman? Because plenty of men have done what these women are doing. Thus, I don't get the big deal.

There is a reason WNBA tickets don't sell like NBA tickets. It's a whole lot more interesting to see a game where 200 points are made compared to a game where 78 points are made.

Same thing goes for motorsports. Guys go faster, thus it makes the competition more exciting. Every go to a pro national with womens MX? It's boring when it happens right after a mens race because the speeds are so much slower. Nothing against those women btw, they would crush me any day of the week if I lined up next to them.

They are women that are winning in the major classes, not women's classes, which has never been done before.

C'mon, it is a big deal that there are women in the pro class and that they are winning championships and races. It is different than a man winning because they are the first, like Brad Lackey being the first American to go win a GP championship when it was undisputedly the top of the heap.

That is cool if women are beating men for titles straight up. News to me, but not surprising I was not informed since
I tend to follow only a few sports.
