GoPro mount question! Please help.

Hey guys,

I recently bought a Gopro and would like to attach it to the top of my Bell moto 8. I have noticed that the top of the moto 8 is not perfectly flat so the gopro mount won't fit snug to the helmet. I was wondering if anyone else has a Bell moto 8 or has experience with gopro mounts and could offer me any advice. If you would like to see pictures of how the mount sits I can make that happen. Any advice will be helpful. Thanks

I had the same situation with my fly helmet. I decided to mount it on the side below where the goggles strap sits. It actually is better video IMO.

Go Pro sells mounts that are a bit curved to mount to helmets I didn't get it, but they sell a 'grab bag' which has all kinds of mounts

I was thinking about mounting it to the side like you did, and I do have the 3-way pivot mount but I usually prefer the top of the helmet view (Just my opinion). If there is no way around it I will mount it to the side like you did. Do you have any links to your video's sdfog1?

Even the curved mount doesn't fit snug to the top unfortunatley. Mine came with both flat and curved mounts.

I have a moto 8 also and used the curve. Its been about 2 years and hasn't fallen off yet

Ok, do you have your visor all the way up? Are there small gaps between the mount and the curves on the helmet?

On some of the helmets that have a ridge in the center, I usually try and used the curved base, and will cut a strip about 3/8ths of an inch wide out of the center of the adhesive. That seems to work well, but if you're concerned about making sure that you have maximum adhesion, a side mount on a flat section would be a good bet.

I have it about 2 inches behind my visor on one of the ridges. My visor is not all the way up but close to it. Not sure what year it is, but it is the red/black wey replica

Attached mine to the top my Shoei. The mount does not fit quit flush either, but I have used it several times now with no problems.

That's a good idea I may give that a try! I'll take another look at my helmet and see what I can come up with. I'll post any more questions I have but thanks for your reply's guys it's been very helpful!

I have the Moto 8 and found the same problem, I found a mount kit that would allow me to mount it to the side under the goggle strap like sdfog1 mentioned, after watching the vid. I way prefer the view over the top helmet view.

I enjoy watching footage from the side and the top of the helmet but I do prefer the top of the helmet. Thanks for the videos though sdfog1, good riding.
