I went boot shopping this weekend, looking for a decent boot in the $200 range, for the amount of riding I do now a days, I couldn't see myself spending $400+ for boots. I am coming off some Tech 10s, which I have had for many years and are still super comfortable, but albeit really shredded up.

I tried on some Tech 3s, Fox Comp 5s, and some 661s...I kind of had my mind made up and was getting the Tech3s...but then the sales girl said she would give me a good deal on the Fly Sectors, I looked at the price and they were $425, so I thought even a good deal was going to be more then I wanted to spend, so I "jokingly" said, sell them to me for the price of the Tech 3s ($209) and I will take them....well she said OK, and now I have a pair of these. What do you guys think of them? I haven't got a chance to ride in them yet, but they feel pretty comfy walking around the house in.

Any thoughts?

Dang you scored big! I've got a pair of TCX Pro 2.1's (the exact same as the Fly Sector) and I love them. I'm going into my 5th season with the same pair. When (if?) these ones ever give up the ghost, I will definitely buy another pair.

Definitely a better boot than the tech 3's however can find more protection in the instinct, tech 10's, sg10-12, and crossfires. Regardless, it was a good buy and should give you more life and support over the tech 3's.

I'v had the TCX 2.1(same as the FLY) once and i didn't like them at all. They felt clumsy(a bit too big in the toe area so i had some problems with shifting gears) and i absolutely hated the buckle system on them. But i know that there are a lot of people that like them! The TCX 2.1 boots are popular here in Europe.

What about compared to the new Tech 8 RS for protection, seems they swapped where leather used to be with
some "microfiber"?

I just got a pair of TCX 2.1's and haven't rode with them yet because I may want to sell them.
The toe box is so tall in comparison to my old (2007) Tech 8's that it's over a full inch taller.
Decisions, decisions....

I am currently in them. LOVE them. i feel all the boots out there are all pretty good though. the Fly boots were easy to break in and are super comfy. extra bonus is Fly puts a lot into the sport so its good to give back.
