I was wondering if i'm the only one who thinks the 250s are almost always more exciting than the 450s. This year the 450 class is really stacked but I still enjoy the 250 races more. In Muddy Creek the 450 race was quite good (a lot of passing, RV coming from the back, battle for 1st place, crashes, ...) but I still prefered the 250 moto.

Am I the only one and if not, why are the 250s more entertaining than the 450s? Is it because of the bike? Or the youth mentality? Or because it's the 250W and 250E combined? Or just coincidence?

The 250's at muddy creek were awesome. The bikes were on the boil at all times, the riders were pushing hard. The 450's were pretty boring in moto one, as RV ran away and everyone else just seemed to ride around at their own pace. Moto 2 of the 450's was better but only because we got to watch RV come through the pack. Otherwise, there seem to be a very limited number of guys out there who can push a 450 very hard and the rest are just riding around at a different pace. This is a stark contrast to the 250's, where pretty much all 40 guys out there are wringing their bikes out and there are battles going on everywhere in the pack.

I left muddy creek thinking the 250 class was the class to watch, for sure. I really think that the 450's are a bit overkill for all but a few riders, and watching the guys ride them with measured caution is not as exciting as watching the 250 gus hang it out

250s are always better to watch bc those guys have to ride the piss out of those things where on the 450 they are just trying to hold on.

450's are almost always a snoozefest.

Slower lighter bikes provide better racing.

Yea there is almost always better racing in the lites class. Not sure if it is the youth in the class and they all push like crazy or just the fact that you can only ride a 250f so fast so it keeps it close. I know the 450's have been good this year because of the depth of the field. All in all this is an amazing outdoor series so far. RV winning 5 or 6 motos looks bad on paper but to me its been a lot better than that. Dung has stalked him even in the motos he ran away with it. It'll only get better as barcia and dung latch onto RV's sprint and hopefully bubbles and canard will come around!

Regardless of when it was 450 or 250 two strokes, it was always harder to ride the bigger bikes faster than the little ones...

Same for the 500cc two strokes and 650 four strokes... things were fucked.

So if you have one guy who's just on it, or a couple, there are heaps that are just hanging on.

Shorty is a good example... He's actually one of the bigger guys, and a multiple race winner in the 250 class, but i've heard him heaps say he has a hard time throwing the 450 around.

So if they replace the 450 with the 350, there would be less difference between the riders and the racing would be much more intense (and more entertaining to watch)? Because it would be easier for the riders to get the maximum of that bike.

I think DC even said that they put the 250 races second in the day because the crowd would leave when JS would run away with it. But moving the 250's to the second slot, everyone was incented to stay.

RV's fitness is just incredible. I'm curious to see how he does throughout the season when it gets really hot. He does come out immediately and just sprints. He never seems to fade either. I think Dungey and Barcia's mindset is that they want to save some energy for the 20 minute mark and then drop the hammer if they can. But RV is already too far ahead at that point.

This happened to the GP's a few years back - the best class for a long time was the 250, then it swapped to 450 and swapped back to 250 - i think it's fair to say it is back with the 450 in that series again.

in the AMA it has been the 250 for some time in my opinion.

IMO It would be better , the 450's are too much , even more so for SX , The only reason the 450's are still fun to watch to me is because its fun watching the top riders in the world ride and race on any bike 2 or 4 stroke .

I wouldn't say it all has to do with the bike. Somewhat, yes... but its more so that the 250 class is full of young and talented kids that are just going for it no matter what. I believe thats why you see the better racing in the 250 class sometimes because its an all out fight the entire time for every position.

I always tought the 250s where more entertaining to watch. The key, i think, is the age of the guys. They are just a little more nuts and willing to perform. Not saying the 450s are not that willing to win but they seem to ride more with their head then the youngsters, and that makes it more spectacular.
