Mine's holding up better than my 756's did (that's not saying much). The tire works pretty good, but it absolutely sucks on cement start pads.

I found this to be true. I buy whatever is on sale/cheapest.

Yeah, but Bridgestone is no longer supporting our sport. Maybe not a huge deal to most people, but it is a deciding factor for me.

I got that mix. The rear has been holding up very well, considering the bike's a 500 smoker. I thought it was going to wear a lot faster. But, maybe the bike puts it to the ground better? Dunno. Anyway, been riding solely MX tracks with the 952 and 756 combo, and the weird thing is that the 756 is going away. I haven't ridden rocks, and it isn't chunking out. But, the knobs are separating, and they're really rounded. I run about 12 psi in the front. Looks like it's going to be a 1:1 ratio with the 500AF? Strange, cause with other bikes I'd get 1 front to every 3 rear tires.

Oh, haven't been able to get the rear tire to stop sliding on the rim. I have to deflate the rear tube and re-center the stem what seems like constantly. I have two rim locks, and they're really tight. I run about 11 psi in the rear tire.

Must be that 500.Running approx the same pressure and dont have those issues.Front is really wearing well too but im just about do for that too.Nothing and I mean nothing beats a set of fresh tires.

What shocks me is that the front end still sticks really well, and the rear is just starting to behave like it needs new rubber. The back knobs must only have about 30% left.

Weird bike.

MX51 wears as quick as a 756. The 952 is the longest lasting Dunlop I have ever used. I will probably go back to the 952 after this 51 wears down.

If you are looking for a rear tire that hooks up like a 756 but lasts 4x as long, get a Pirelli MXMH. It's light too.

All Dunlops wear fast; I have tried a number of tires and the best bar none have been Michelin

if it lasts longer or a long time then it usually isn't hooking up very well.

Which model(s) do you prefer, and in what riding conditions?

I like the Pirelli Midsoft on the rear winter and spring and the Midhard in the summer and fall when the ground is harder. They work well and wear slowly. I just tried a Bridgestone 403 front and think it's the best front I've ever used, even better than a 756RR. I'm going to have to try thr matching 404 now on the rear, but it will have to be good to beat that Pirelli.

What kind of bike/conditions/terrain do you ride?

Pretty much what mx317 described. We mostly ride on a red clay/sand mix that is soft in the morning then gets patches of hardpack in the afternoon as the sun/heat/bikes dries the track out during the summer. The Mid Hard works much like a 756 in these conditions. In cooler temps, the tracks stay moist and soft so the Mid Soft works great then. Pirelli also off a tire called the Extra which is supposed to work in an even wider range and last even longer but I have not used it so I can't comment on it's performance. It may be a good choice for a tire eating CR500AF.

I am loving the mx51. I have 5 rides on it and it is about half worn out. I think I will go two rears to a front. I liked the michelin but it wasn't as predictable as the Dunlop. I might have to give the Pirelli's a try. I hate to buy tires and not like them though.

Anyone ever try the 742FA? Anyone have experience with it on a Service Honda 500? Not that the 756 is bad....

A michelin S12 last longer than a 756 and hook up better.

S12 front and rear for me.

I called Service Honda, and they recommend Pirelli MXMS tires for my bike. I think I'll give 'em a go.

Had great traction and great wear over the weekend with mine. First time I used that tire. Normally I ride Bridgestone's. I liked the MX51.

You mean the Pirelli's?

Shit, I'm wearing out my equipment and tires riding as much as I do with this thing. Funny thing with the 500 is that the suspension components will take more maintenance than the engine.

The Pirelli MS is great in soft dirt that stays soft all day. I use them when our weather is cooler and the tracks don't dry out.

The MH works better if your tracks ever develop hard areas out of the corners.
